Rafael, I seriously thought about giving a Like to your photos of the red-bearded guy with tattoos. The photos are well done, but I just have a gut level aversion to tattoos. When evaluating a photograph, I try to strike a balance between my interest in the subject and the quality of execution. In this instance, my reaction to the subject won out over the quality.
Back from OBX and spending my last day of vacation cleaning the cameras and lenses, kayaks, etc. from the salt environment. Thought I would post one more image. No trip to the Outer Banks is complete without a snapshot of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
Shot with the 25-50mm Ais. Sea turtle nest in the foreground. Saw quite a few nests this year. Always a good thing to see.
Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well and having a great summer!!
I´ve not been very active here lately. I will go through the thread when I have some more time go through what I missed.
Been working some and out hiking and canoeing some. Me and a friend left the civilisation for a week and was out in the swedish wilderness for a week. One of the best trips I´ve ever made...
I brought the 25-50mm f/4.0 ais and the 50-135mm f/3.5 ais (Aka The Leighton Lens) and the 20mm f/1.8 af-g. I must say I was very pleased with my decision. The 25-50mm is a great lens to deal with, it weighs a bit, but covers the wide-normal end and the 50-135mm always deliver. My oríginal plan was to take the 80-200 f/4.0 ais instead, but in the end I chickened out because of the extra grams it has compared to the 50-135mm. We had to caryy the canoe and our backpacks between lakes, over hills and peat lands. Quite a struggle (but totally worth it).
Here´s the first shots from our trip.
First night we set upp camp was nearby some beautiful waterfalls. Shots, from daytime and night time.
Sony A7RII + Fotasy adapter + Nikkor180mm f/2.8 ai-s ED hand held, ISO 500, f/5.6 at 1/125s. 6-vertical shots pano. Body vibration reduction was important during this rainy afternoon.
Things are tickin' along nicely here today! Kristian, those are some very fine land/waterscapes from your trip. You made good use of the nighttime light for the second and third shots, and the fourth photo makes me want to hop into that canoe and go for a paddle!
Here are a couple more images from the Parksville Beach sand sculpture competition. As you can see, the first and second photos are of the same subject; I'm not sure which one I prefer, so I'm posting both of them. The first came from the 55 f/1.2 SC, and the second and third shots are from the 35 f/1.4 N.

Sorry Kevin. Nothing worthy. Culled most of them. Too many people getting in the way as well.
Might have one or two taken with the 24-120 VR
I’d still be interested in seeing what you got. I recently got into that “maker culture” with a good quality 3D printer. Recently, my wife and I refinished an old dresser and I used my printer to make all new, custom, drawer knobs. I’ll have to take a pic, give me an excuse to shoot something.

Please do share. Those printers fascinate me. I can image how handy they are in making spare parts in isolated environments. Thinking back to my submarine days. We had a mission critical piece of equipment fail on one deployment and a machinist hand made a gear out of a nylon block using a drill and jewelers files. Took several days. Could have probably printed one quickly. But in the end it did save our whole mission.
What was the equipment failure that was so critical to our mission? .... The soft serve ice-cream machine

Taking you with me on a Magic California Drive. California is a magic place, being ruined by overpopulation. I used to experience that magic best during my years of surfing, you know you are made of stardust when you surf at night in total darkness, the feel of the wave is by intuition, surfing it is like flying in space, can't see it but you are still one with it.
Driving the San Diego Back country can be magical too, specially in my old car because you feel and see everything in those two lane country roads, Like a motorcycle but no helmet or visor. In addition the countryside can be something else, stressed by drought but still there...
I continue to enjoy the quality work here, but had to jump in to say I really enjoyed the first shot in this series. Magnificent oaks, great setting, lighting, and processing.
