After hours of driving thru monotonous country at midday near Gila Bend AZ I decided to take my 1st walk in the desert. I was from back east so it was all new to me. I cautiously walked perpendicular to to road, ever vigilant for rattlers in the blazing sun. About 100 feet from the car I suddenly felt a sharp pain in the back of my bare leg. I thought I was a goner! Come to find out it wasn't a viper, but a bit of jumping cactus that ambushed me from behind.
Speaking of the village, does anyone have any photos of Portmeiron?

Portmeirion - that is a place I want to go to. Often considered but never materialised.
My wife and I will hopefully venture there in September and plan to trek up Mt Snowdon as well.
