Haha I don't think so; the light was awful with light rain and grey clouds.
Here's one of the Point Bonita Lighthouse.
A treacherous hike through a narrow and steep slippery road
While Curtis sat warm in his pristine white Camry
I ran past the ranger as he shouted do not step on the bridge sir the lighthouse is closed
And I yelled back I'm not going in, I'm not going in
Glen, I am in awe about your knowledge of Hinduism.

The similarity is certainly striking. Although it is about 4.8 degrees of latitude further north than Maine, Vancouver Island has much more moderate weather, with slightly cooler summers and significantly warmer winters. Clearly that's not enough to dissuade the lichen, however!

Shiva has interesting ways of bringing about transformation! He's also called the Destroyer because of his extreme methods. As Neelkanth (blue-throated one), he consumes the poison that threatens to kill off all Creation only after it has caused a fair bit of damage, and he has a pattern of decimating those who annoy him, such as Kamdeva, whom he incinerates with a glance, and Ganesh, whom he impulsively beheads before finding out that Ganesh is Parvati's (Shiva's partner's) son (he then arranges for Ganesh to obtain an elephant's head). Shiva is severe in pretty much every way; but his role is all about helping us humans to become better and happier people, and he has a core of boundless love. People tend to find Vishnu much more readily lovable. Of course, all of the mythical stories of Hinduism have spiritual significance reflecting common human experience.

Ram, I really like the tonal composition of the water buffalo photo. It's a wallhanger!

Here are a few more photos from Hemer Park. The first two were shot with the 55 f/1.2 SC, and the third is courtesy of the 24 f/2.8 NC. The lenses were mounted with a focal reducer on my Fuji X-T2, and the images were processed through On1 Photo RAW 2018.

I'm alive, though barely, after surviving a brutal week in Vegas (I was there for work, honest!). It was fun meeting up with Curtis though I am still beating myself up for not asking him to bring me for one last turn up to the Headlands, oh a night shot of the city night lights would have been fab.
It'll be a long while before I get photos up though, I still have that backlog from Taiwan in November last year!
Ken, I got caught out in the dark at the Fire Wave at the Valley of Fire because I was overzealous in waiting for the sun to peek out from the rain clouds that it set before I knew what was going on. Walking with a flashlight looking for trail markers was no fun at all, especially when night sounds tend to provoke an active imagination to overdrive. I'm glad I stayed calm and managed to retrace my steps back to my rental. Remind me not to head out for landscapes alone....Show more →

Chin, I'm sorry our schedules didn't work out for meeting at Valley of Fire or Death Valley, but I'm glad you got to see VoF. My first time at the Fire Wave I walked back in the dark too. For what it's worth, you were probably in more danger in Las Vegas.

Whilst back in Scotland I learned that a local man I knew from school went on a solo walking trip into the mountains in the north-west of the country. That was nearly 3 weeks ago and he has not yet returned. The mountain rescue teams found his car......

Thanks, Venkat! Regarding Vishnu I can add that, in a sense, he can be seen as a mirror image of Shiva. While Shiva is outwardly severe and destructive, yet inwardly consists only of the purest love, Vishnu is always soft and loving with people, even while being forceful and unflinching in dealing out justice. This becomes especially apparent in his two best-known and most popular incarnations, as Ram (not to be confused with his namesake here on the MFNG thread, unless there is much more to our friend than meets the eye!) and Krishna. Both of these avatars incarnated with a twofold purpose: to destroy evil/vice, and to re-establish and strengthen good/virtue, in order to preserve and perpetuate Creation.
To get back to the formal purpose of this thread, here are a few photos from Monday at Neck Point, all taken with the 180 f/2.8 Ai-s and TC-201 on the X-T2.
Going back to one year in the active thread. Looks like everything else is in archive. Look at the first page of the thread now.
If you go to the archive, it indicates that there are 6395 pages. But the last posts in the archive actually stop at 5977. All the rest are blank. At least in my view.
Agree with Reagan below. At least we have the archive to go back to.
