A Tribute photo to my old friend.
My good old buddy passed away this last weekend. I wanted to share one of my favorite shots of him. He was my go to test subject whenever I got a new old lens or testing out an adjustment after a CLA, etc. Very patient
Used the 85mm f/1.4 AIS wide open on this shot adapted to the X-T2 using the Metabones SpeedBooster Ultra.
George
So sorry to hear of your loss George. These guys become such an integral part of our lives, it is hard to see them leave. On the other hand, I can not imagine not having shared the time that we do have with them. They leave us with great memories, that I am sure.
Sorry for your loss, George. It's amazing how fast these furkids get into our hearts.

The only words I have are...I'm sorry for you and your family.

Bridge to nowhere. Well not quite, but had to exercise the vintage Airesflex Automat's shutter a bit. The little Nikkor 75mm f3.5 lens is quite capable. This was with Ilford Delta 400 film

That old picture of Genoa docks is probably from around the time that my Great Grandfather left there.
...
Wow Steve, what a coincidence, this is just the same case for my Great Grandmother!
I have ~ 1/8 (great grand mothers/fathers) = 12.5% of my blood from Genova
Luka, great street shot with the 55. Iīve not yet been able to get out and give it a go on infinity.
Maws, that 55 is one great performer.
Jay, nice Florida shots. Love that last one.
Ram, love that sunrise shot.
George, so sorry to hear about your old friend. I know what itīs like.
Samy, nice b/w shot!
Ben, awesome street shot.

It is 28mm AIS rendition. I've used it to take sample photos only for my work thanks to close focus distance it brings. Gradually I find it also pleasant for other else.
Thank you Kristian. That photo made it to Flickr Explore overnight and this morning, I saw 2300 views and 111 favs. Something about sun shots that made it to Explore. I never know how these things work but I am not that lucky to be picked by Explore. But then its just an AI algorithm picking things up so I dont give it much importance.
I did love the coverage this picture got me though. The 400mm on DX gave this a different perspective. I am yet to process other shots taken at that same time. Meanwhile, I will share couple of BW shots from the Safari.

One of the things about our furry companions is they don't live as long as our human companions, at least that is the case if we don't encounter tragedy along the way. That means, of course, that we're given numerous opportunities to grieve the loss of a loved one. Sometimes love is easier with our furry friends since they're not inclined to treat us poorly, as sometimes happens with our other family and friends. So we reward their love with our own. It is a wonderful gift, sharing life with such a companion. I've said goodbye to a few furry friends over the years and it is never easy. I imagine a large dog with whom you can ramble the world becomes even more a presence in one's life. Cats tend to stay at home, as do smaller dogs. But the big fella can jump in the truck and lead the way down a trail.
Your photo is a wonderful tribute to your friend George. Thanks for sharing it with us. He will surely be missed.
As a preview of coming attractions I'll note that Chin and I spoke on the telephone last Sunday as he sat at the terminal in San Francisco awaiting his connecting flight to Las Vegas. Clever fellow that he is, Chin found an an Air BnB room about two blocks from my cottage. I'll pick him up at the airport early this coming Sunday morning to begin our adventure together. Weather is a bit threatening, so it isn't clear exactly how we'll spend our two days together. I promised that if it rains I'll give him a tour of the cabinet where I keep my lenses. He suggested we might want to do laundry so he can see my legendary laundromat...
I promise there will be photos, including photos we take of one another... what is the old saying? "If there isn't a photo... it NEVER HAPPENED..."
I'm enjoying the work posted. It is a treat to have Ben show up and certainly a delight that Luka is playing with us again. Happy shooting everyone!

Thanks Leighton. To "see" the two of us together we'll need to ask Sue to take a photo of the two of us when we visit her on Sunday evening for dinner. Fortunately, she knows how to turn the focusing ring...
Wonderful to remember that Chin was the first person to receive Nikki during our Great Lens Adventure... which began SIX YEARS AGO!
