Christmas gift to myself
Now that Sony's A7Riii is lowering prices of the A7Rii, I bought one by a good price.
One of the first test shots with the new Sony A7R2. Rainy day, natural light.
Nikkor 300mm f2.8 ai-s EDIF + tripod, ISO 800, wide open at 1/800s. Just 20% of the pixels (8.5/42.2MP).
Too short time to a complete evaluation, but this sensor is amazing me and the ease of MF focusing is revealing. Bad point: battery life is ridiculous, and I am using just MF, plane mode, etc, etc. Need to buy 2 more batteries for a day long shooting, for sure!
This is my first bookcase. I made a bunch of mistakes but mostly not visible
So, the day I put it up, I went to a local ReStore here just to look around and found an almost complete set of classics novels that my wife loves. I decided to buy them but they wouldn't take the money. Didn't even take my donation. I couldn't believe it. Well, here they are on the shelves.
Please accept my gratitude for the great photos you share and grant me forgiveness for the poor ones I am getting, it is largely because I have family at home and I want to stay with them.
This is the time of the year when I complain about the dryness that is killing our landscape, we are grateful for the temperatures but not for the lack of rain.
These are about Christmas weather in San Diego county.
With the lens no one else in the thread will buy, and I recommend you do not, the 7.5mm 5.6, only reason to get it is collecting. It is beautiful to look at! and it came permanently autofocused,
The 7.5mm samples above look sharp and contrasty, they are at f/11, well shaded and processed to bring in the shapness. You can work with the sun fully in the frame but be careful or this is what one gets.

Yep, I owned 4 batteries with the A7RII, now one A7RIII battery lasts a good long time - more than 2 of the A7RII batteries I assume because the -III sips less power than the -II.

Don't forget that batteries also age - Apple have an app, er, IOS fix, for that.
Maybe Sony will follow suit, reduce the number of captured image pixels, then interpolate to back fill the missing ones.

Sine I bookmark the page to the last post, I've tended to scroll up and backwards through the topic. I have about a 75% hit rate guessing correctly about the photographer behind the photos before I scroll up to the names. Guess quite a few of us have been here awhile :-)

...and I, for one, certainly get stuck on 1 type of subject!
I noticed my D3 had lots of pics still in the camera, downloaded to the computer and found some oldies but goodies.
35mm 1.4 at 1.4, not sure which type. Processed with Capture Nx2.

Re the second shot... My first truck was a beat up '63 Dodge step-side pickup. Had a slant 6 engine, but we took a 383 from a Dodge Monaco and with some serious engine mount and transmission modification got it in the pickup. Painted it red. We had a retired Dodge mechanic who lived nearby and could rattle of Mopar part numbers from the top of his head and was the brains behind the conversion that my dad and I did. Good and crazy memories of that truck. Lesson learned that you do not put Amour-all on vinyl bench seats that do not have seat belts and take sharp curves
