One of the first images out of my newly-arrived A7RIII.
Didn't have it configured for RAW files, so this one is a post-processed .jpg from the camera.

that was the view from my dorm room window at CAL.
Thanks for the reminder Rafael. You know well then the many seasons of the Bay. I lived in Oakland for a short while during my tenure with the City of Vallejo at the far northern reaches of the Bay. In the heat of summer, driving south I'd drive around the bend in Richmond and encounter nature's air conditioning. Berkeley and El Cerrito are directly across from the Golden Gate Bridge that offered ocean breezes that moderate warm summer days. And, of course, the sunsets over the bridge can be magnificent. I was most likely here when you were at university. I arrived in November, 1972, living in Oakland until 1978 before heading north to Vallejo. We could have run into each other on Shattuck Avenue where I often visited bookstores. Mmm... six degrees of separation?

So I guess you didn't go with the D850

Somebody told me that "size matters" and no doubt that is the case for John, our resident mountain goat...
I commented on the "perfect Nikon camera" thread that I'm not looking for a BIGGER camera. That certainly seems to be a theme here and elsewhere. No doubt there are some great cameras available for folks willing to lug them around. I've certainly concluded that full frame suits my taste so small cameras with cropped sensors will not likely whet my appetite. Nor are my pockets deep enough that I can take the route John has followed with Sony, but his new camera certainly looks like an amazing option. Perhaps in a few years once the next iteration appears and the price on the used market softens I'll think about it... Congratulations John. Business must be good...
Time for another old photo... taken with some kind of camera. I stumbled on this while processing images. I'd likely taken a digital photo of the original because in 1991 when this was taken I didn't own a camera. This may have been taken by a friend. My post above about bygone years when Rafael was around the Bay Area made me think about this. How about it folks... self portraits AT LEAST 25 years ago...

Maybe we can spice this place up again... I vaguely remember this guy.
Ok. I'll play. Had to dig out the photo album and scan this one. Can't remember if the guy who took this picture used my Nikon FM or not. May have been a Sea and Sea Motor Marine (used that underwater). But this from 1990/91.
Like Curtis, I hardly remember this guy. Sans beard then.
Love it George! You were a handsome dude back then as well. Clearly a man close to nature, which makes sense given what you've shared on the thread over time. Thanks for playing. Now we need to round up the usual suspects...
Chris?
This is me at my MOST bushy... If you can imagine, I was Director of Community Development at the time...
I'm not sure if this is such a good idea
Odd coincidence, my cousin found some old photos and sent us the scans a couple of months back
I've been gathering all these to show Raylan so yeah...
Am on the left, my brother on the right... I should be 10 or 11? I'm 37 now so 25 years ago, I guess it fits...
From left to right, me, mom, grandma in law, mom in law, dad. This is 1974, around the time I was living in Berkeley and running into Curtis ar Shattuck Av.

Yes, it is shocking to reflect on changes wrought by time. Of course, having children generally guarantees that grandbabies will come along and this youngun has done you and Barbara proud. I know her sister has also made a contribution to the Womack clan. I trust you put on your tartan kilt for family celebrations...
And, was this taken before your farming adventure began? I see the John Deere hat but that could mean just about anything. Inquiring minds want to know...

I remember that photo Rafael. You have a beautiful family. And YES, I was in Oakland in 1974, living near the southern edge of Lake Merritt downtown. I was single at the time and loved to ramble around Berkeley, Shattuck, University, College Avenues. There was a Shambhala bookstore down the street from Moe's that held my attention. I was likely doing sitting meditation at the Nyingma Institute just north of campus. Our paths could have crossed.
That said, we need something a bit more current Rafael. Of course in 1991 you could have been working on a top secret project and been required by NSA to keep your photo out of sight... But see what you can do.

If I had a kilt, I'd wear it! This was before our move to the Valley. But we had a 5 acre homestead then and I had just bought my brand new JD tractor, which I still use almost every day. Nothing runs like Deere.

Looks like an Evinrude. I had one like it on one of boats. That doesn't look like trout fishing to me!

May have been Evinrude, Marking covered. No trout fishing there, that is for sure. Was a military related exercise. Location undisclosed

Yea, I know, you could tell me but then you'd have to kill me.
