Went out last night. It was really windy. Even though I have a pretty sturdy tripod it was hard to get some sharp images. BUt I got a couple pretty ok ones. All shot with the Nikon 28mm f/2.8 ais.
D800,f/22, 30s and iso250. Some flares from the harsh street lights on the bridge disturbs me a bit though. Anyone who has an idea how to minimize those? Maaaalmö by Kristian Hagelin, on Flickr

I know Sun Valley well Dan. I on occasion will wander around the cemetery at the end of Fifth looking for photo opportunities. I've also submitted an application to Rotary Manor senior complex in the neighborhood. In a region with rental prices going through the roof, this very nice complex offers seniors affordable rent. The downside is there is a long waiting list. Fortunately, at least for the moment, my landlady has chosen not to demand market rate rent from me. That may be because I've lived in this very sweet cottage for 27 years and have been, until recently, a very low maintenance tenant. The question on my mind is whether the new furnace, gas stove, refrigerator and structural repair caused by water intrusion, will inspire her to substantially raise my rent. If she does I may not be able to afford maintaining my photography kit... No Fuji camera for me...
I had a similar Huxleyian moment when eating at a sports bar featuring at least 40 wide screens recently, suddenly I was surrounded by 1/3 of them asking "Is a 1 game suspension enough?'
Thankfully the sound was off...

Winter has arrived and I am still just beginning to work on images from our summer hike. Ironically, these look more like winter than what I see outside my window today.
July 11 in the High Sierra, just below the top of Donohue Pass, leaving Yosemite National Park on the John Muir Trail (somewhere below that white stuff). The dark spot in the center is Lyell Canyon leading to Tuolumne Meadows and the Tioga Pass road where we started our hike the day before. If you look real hard you see two hikers on the snow left of center to the bottom of the slope the snow track leads down on.

Hope your rent doesn't go up. That way, you CAN get a Fuji camera!
But if I buy a Fuji camera and begin selling Nikon lenses, like some of our friends have done... this thread might get even slower. The onetime duo of blabbermouths would BOTH be gone...
I think it best that I save my money to be ready for the second iteration of the Df OR the mirrorless camera we've been promised from Nikon. Of course, neither will happen unless I find my photography mojo. At the moment my enthusiasm level is quite tepid. I am taking my camera out more just to see if I can stir the juices. Unfortunately, winter is not the best time of year for taking photos... but I'll keep trying.
Stay warm and dry Leighton. Hope Barbara is doing well...
I reviewed photos I took on Monday in Berkeley and thought this one taken with the 105 f/1.8 AI-s worth sharing. You see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge across San Francisco Bay with Alcatraz to the left. Marin headlands are to the right of the bridge. Berkeley's waterfront is in the foreground. The photo is much improved when converted to Silver Efex Pro 2.

I'm with Reagan "California Dreaming" on a Nikon mirrorless. But...just in case I'm wrong, I really hope it will accept f-mount lenses. Barbara is fine thank you.

California Dreamin

The nice thing about California Dreamin is that regardless of what happens, I'm content. Unlike you Reagan, I've never been dissatisfied with the camera in my kit, whether a Canon 5D, Nikon D700 or Df. If nothing new appears on the scene I'll simply have to suffer along with the Df, which suits my needs very well. And I have so many lenses in the cabinet behind me that I'm not looking for any of those either. Ah, the contentment of OLD AGE...
The first two taken with the 105 f/1.8 AI-s were in front yards. I noticed them as I drove by and stopped to take photos. The last shot with the 135 f/2.8 K AI was shot in Tilden Park's arboretum.

Curtis,
Really liking the middle picture "ouch"
In foreign lands at the moment with no Nikon kit to hand.
Blasphemy - M43 kit rules the weight stakes.
