I've been playing with both Luminar and Exposure X3. I find it easier to get the results I like with Exposure X3, but Luminar would be a darn good option. The problem with the beta that I've been using is that it isn't yet complete. Certain features are completely missing from the beta. You can go to the Luminar website to see what's missing. Once Luminar releases a complete version, I'm sure it will be an excellent choice.

If you want an editor with a full-blown DAM, Exposure X3 is not for you. It has many features of a DAM with the ability to search, rate, tag, etc., but it doesn't use catalogs. It's up to you to create your folder structure and maintain it. For me, this is a positive. Others will prefer something different, I'm sure.

I've never been a LR user. I used Gimp for many years, but finally decided I needed something more user friendly. I've used and own ON1, but it just doesn't run well on my computer for some reason. My computer more than meets the minimum specs, but it runs very slowly and crashes frequently.

I haven't yet purchased Exposure X3, but I'm very close to doing so. It doesn't 99% of what I need to do and I'm using Affinity Photo for everything else. I really, really like Affinity Photo, but I want something that will allow me to make simple adjustments quickly. Exposure X3 allows me to do this. X3 also has tons of very good film simulations.

As far as EX3 not having a full blown DAM, I could live with that. I don't mind creating my own specialized folders.

I'm having some issues with the adjustment brush with On1 (lags). I think it's that I don't have a powerful enough graphics card installed. I KNOW I have the power in everything else, so that's the only thing left in the puzzle.

I have strictly used Lightroom. I tried Aperture in the beginning but I am glad I stuck with Lightroom
I like their library feature
As long as I keep older cameras I will probably stay with LR
Even with new cameras I believe you will still be able to import jpegs to LR6
I am a creature of habit and don't care for change
Still not happy with the big change that happened with this thread

I did the preorder on it and should be getting it when it’s released later this month. Lightroom is very difficult to replace, just something about the controls and output that other programs can’t seem to match. I probably should give Acdsee more of a go, it has full controls. I did cancel my Adobe subscription, it just seems like they want too much for their software.

Today I managed to get out and take some photos. The mission today was to try make some HDR´s and panos (not combined though). (edited the size)

First one here´s a 6 shot standing pano. Taken with the D800 and the 28/2.8 ais.
6 Shot pano by Kristian Hagelin, on Flickr

Next up is a 3 shot HDR also with the 28/2.8 ais. Merged in LR. Tried to do this a few more times with another shot, but LR did´nt make it..
Fall Season Häckeberga by Kristian Hagelin, on Flickr

Not a pano nor a HDR. Same lens:

I brought the Nikkor-Q.C 135mm f/2.8 as well. It´s a great performer collecting a the beautiful fall colours.

"I don't care for change"

I guess that doesn't apply to your cameras Reagan

Anyone tried DxO Photolab? I thought about giving them a look. Especially since they acquired the NIK products.

Really looking for a LR replacement. GIMP has what I need for a Photoshop replacement.

Haven't tied DxO yet. I've tried On1, Capture One Pro, Alien Skin EX3, Luminar and Affinity. The one thing they all have in common is that you have to use layers. I've never cared for layers, that's why I love LR.

Good point. I'm not a fan of layers just for post processing.

I have/use DxO PhotoLab, but no DAM either. I used their previous versions, the lens-profiles, noise reduction and dehaze option are quite good.
They incorporated U-point technology and it looks a bit like Capture-NX. It works very good.

I hope their next acquisition will be a DAM-product.

PhotoSupreme is a nice DAM and recognises (some) edits made in DxO (and LR), but not nearly enough.
IMHO the only option is an "one-product" solution.
