Hi gang. I have been in the background for a few weeks. Between work, life events, have just not been able or wanted to really get out and shoot any. Sort of a funk I guess. Have been using the like button and slowly getting back in the groove. I thought I was going to lose my dog, but long story short after an urgent surgery, he is doing well.
I added a new Nikkor rangefinder lens to my kit this week. A like new S mount 3.5cm f2.5. They are getting harder and harder to find in this condition but you just have to keep looking and be ready to pounce when the price is right.
I went to see my son at college today and stopped by the state farmers market. I only took the X-Pro2 with the new Nikkor 3.5cm. Still only shooting black in white with this set up. Seems to fit
A few zone focus shots below. Nothing great, but I really love these old lenses. Can even see some swirly bokeh in the first one of the mums.
I saw this section while editing a bigger image taken at a morning market yesterday. The kid seems to be in pain but no one looks vaguely interested. Is this our new, uncaring world?

Phillippe, that looks like the view from "Clementine" restaurant where Ingrid and I had a lovely evening meal on 29 May 2001. Terrine de Loup, rabbit with cream and rosemary, gigelot de Agneau, cheese, local white wine - all for 346 francs.
i shudder to think of today's equivalent in Euro!!
Colin, lovely composition of the Forth rail bridge. Quite an engineering feat. With the new Millennium bridge open, will they take down the old road bridge?

Scott,
No, they are re-purposing it for public transport and pedestrian/cycle use only.
I didn't have time to walk out onto the old bridge using the existing pedestrian/cycle path.
I was in a hurry and the weather was closing in. Best laid plans fell apart due to new road layouts that confused the heck out of the sat nav in the hire car. So I ended up heading for the water's edge.

George, I am so happy to hear that your dog will be alright! I know that he means the world to you and your family! I don't know what I'd do without my Golden as I love him as a son. Please know that I will keep your dog and your family in my thoughts and will pray for his continued good health!
Best wishes,
Don

Peter, I had to look up what the word rosemary meant in the dictionary : well it's "Romarin" a typycal and strongly scented provencal herb indeed.
You made me laugh with your "gigelot de agneau"... I guess it was a "gigot d'agneau" but "gigelot" sounds in French like "gigolo"...
Seems that "Clementine" is closed now...too bad.
Dan, welcome to the thread. Beautiful scenario's debut series!
Steve, loved the jazz player set
Back to t he old slides, now that I finally get a near mint D810 (with just 1.590 clicks), all of my slide digital dupes will use the high resolution of this body.
The recently sold 400/2.8D AF-I generated the resources for the camera lust
Chalk-browed Mockingbird with a mirror tele and its weird bokeh:
F4 + Reflex-Nikkor 500mm f/8N + tripod, 1/125s; Fujichrome RDPIII ISO 100, November 2002, Prata-MG, Brazilian Savannah, Cerrado Region.
Digital dupe using D810 (at ISO 64) + PB-6 bellows + Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 ai @f/7.1 + PS-6 slide copying adapter + SC-17 cable/SB 400 flash behind slide. Some cropping from original slide.
Thanks to all for your kind words and thoughts. Sorry for the oversized posts, I'll keep them smaller next time.
I have used Richard Haw as a resource and also on YouTube there's a guy named Kenneth (mikeno62) who is also very much worth checking out. Unfortunately, for the beginner who just wants to repair a lens or two, there really is no comprehensive resource that will provide all the information you need to complete the job (far from it), nor does anyone explain how the lenses work - what each part is named or what it does - but these sites do help. For example, I have had to figure out myself how to adjust the focus, which you will find is extremely important (I have had to reset the focus on about 1/2 my repaired lenses). By reset I mean so that the infinity mark is actually set precisely at infinity. There is no explanation of this online, anywhere.
If anybody here ever does consider diving in to lens restoration, please don't hesitate to contact me with questions. I am no expert and may not be able to help, but I do have experience with about 15 lenses so far and no failures, with 7 currently on my bench. I have cleaned elements and helicoids (and re-greased them) but I don't touch aperture assemblies!
