The light and rendering of those is captivating. Especially for something like a tomato.

Here is one final set of images from the summer of 2025. These were taken at the Forbidden Plateau with the 25-50 f/4 Ai-s on my Fuji X-T4.

That's mean light for breakfast time, Philippe. Nicely captured. Good to see you, too.I got concerned when I read about the fires that have been raging on your side of the world for a while.

Thank you for your comment and your concern about the wildfires. We have indeed been severely affected, with more than 200,000 people evacuated. Fortunately, we have professional and volunteer firefighters who have done an extraordinary job. Thanks to them, there have been no fatalities.

Today we took some friends through Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge, a place we've walked may times and where I've taken lots of pics, many posted here. Here are a few from today. I carried the 200mm f/4 and the 300mm f/4.5 w/1.4 TC. These were with the 300mm x 1.4.

Great Blue Heron too far away and picture taken in haste. The background is disturbing. But then, the light wasn't helping.

Whenever I see pictures of Tower Bridge, it takes me back to the early days of DPReview where every camera review had a picture of Tower Bridge.

I like your approach to picture-taking, Jim. Pictures got to be taken. The Heron background does not disturb me. The picture is of a Heron, the background is an extra. I must try harder with the butterfly pictures when they come around. For some reason, they didn't like this winter's flowers much. I only see bees, lots of bees. Bees love poppies.

Some closeups taken very late in the day. Tripod was necessary, even though it limits composition options. I have memories of the 55 doing well in diffused light. It didn't disappoint.

Then I got closer to the middle flower. Lovely background fade, imo. Sharpened up nicely in post but I decided to go with the out of camera default sharpening. Gentle but still sharp enough if you click through for original size.

Thank you. In philosophical agreement with my dad's photography, I've always taken pictures of stuff I thought at the time I'd want to remember, only occasionally to create an "Image". I judge an Image as "Is this something I'd like to hang on a wall and see every day?" Some yes, some no, but I may still want to remember it. That approach creates lots of variety. In the old days it wasted lots of film, just part of the required investment.

Of course, I don't have to hang them on a virtual wall for other people to see. If others don't like 'em, well, that's okay. Pictures were made for seein', a shared life experience. Life is messy. So are the pictures!

Hi, everyone:

James, terrific looking tomatoes, excellent photographs.

Colin, great captures from Borough Market. Good to see Tower Bridge, nice photos.

The southbound express station exit, always look up and to the left when I reach street level.

Trinity Church, 1846: Became very popular with the 2014 release of the film "National Treasure". Security here is tight probably to protect the Templar treasure. The "Champions Way" sign was added for the NY Knicks parade and recently sold on a popular auction site for around $35K.

I see you've been keeping things very compact lately, Serge. XE-1 only. So, what's up and to the left at street level? The church?

Siphiwe, small and lightweight is a good thing during the hot summer months. I also get a bit attached to the X-E1 after being a daily companion on the trips.

It is Trinity Church, visible in the first photo.
