A couple from a grey day yesterday as a cold front moved in…
That does look cold and miserable!
Knysna is about as far South as one can go in SA - 34deg while Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa about 300 Kms West is 34.8 deg.
Our summers are good but we have a fair rainfall and in winter we have cold front after cold front rolling in from the very cold S Atlantic. While it never gets much below 3*C the wet cold seems to get into my old bones.
That's when we get out of town to colder but drier parts.
Nikkor 85mm f/2 AI-S on D800, one of my favorite 85’s ever and wish I had not sold it.
This scene is in Washington State looking west toward San Juan Islands.
EDIT: so much for my memory - I double checked the EXIF on the original RAW file, and it says 90mm. Even though I owned the AI-S 85/2 at that time, if this EXIF is correct then this image would have been taken with a Voigtlander 90mm f/3.5 I also had for a time. On the next page I posted a tighter composition that is definitely from a Nikkor 135mm f/3.5, confirmed with EXIF.

I love the road shot! It’s raining here in Northern California and I drive the back roads in to work. Today would have been a good day to have my camera with me. There is a new development going up and they just finished all the grading. You can see for about 2 miles and there was a fair amount of fog filling in all the lower parts of the new development. Was stunning this morning as the sun peaked under the rain clouds to light up the fog.

Gorgeous photo to introduce yourself to our thread. You really should get another 85/2 and a few others and keep posting with us.
I appreciate your warm welcome! I’ve been enjoying seeing everyone’s pictures here.
I had an Nikkor 85/2 in my shopping cart last night Looking in my basement equipment room I have found my Nikkor 55/2.8 Micro which is another MF lens I have always loved and I would like to start shooting that first. I can use it on F5 body for film or D200 for digital, but I went ahead and ordered a basic adapter so I can shoot in manual exposure on my Sony A7RV (which is currently my main rig).

Yea, the 55 f2.8 is a great lens. It was my first Nikkor MF lens I purchased when I got back into shooting with the MF glass again. We have a couple Sony shooters here that produce great work with these old beauties.

Ross, it's really great to welcome you to this thread. It's probably the longest photography thread on the internet and in 17 years I've been here the most respectful of others and their work.

Yeah Ross, come sprinkle some of that Sony+Nikkor magic over here. One of the best thing this board decided was to allow non-Nikon bodies with adapted Nikkors.
