Today I cleaned lenses. Lint rolled their bags, vacuumed, and cleaned the lenses. I discovered a grain of sand tucked into the front element, and the retaining ring. I always hate that - this tiny sharp bit poised to make a scratch. I got out this small vacuum and sucked it up from about 0.25 of inch away - and then I realized - I could see a grain of sand. Hallelujah! My eyes are so much better I could even see the color of each grain I found (5 or 6 total).

Nikon F3HP - Fuji 400 color negative film & the Nikkor 35-105mm f3.5 ais
An overlooked IR from last May
IR converted Canon 5D with the Nikkor 20mm f2.8 ais
About 15 miles north of the central NC/VA border tonight. Not much time to process anything and traveling to SC tomorrow.
But here is a quick one imported to Lightroom iPad and exported to share. Working with a poor cell signal and hotspot to the iPad. Hope it comes across.
Noct doing Noct things
Will look at more on the laptop tomorrow night.

Anyone capturing any aurora shots?
Not bad looking. The 20mm is capturing the color but it’s hard to see with the naked eye. I’m going to give it another hour and see if it dries out more after those storms.

I think that was about 2 or 3 sec exposure. Will look tomorrow night when I get settled with my laptop. But yeah, very hard to make out with the naked eye. But pops on the phone camera or other digital with longer exposure.
This was the only Nikkor I had with me and wasn’t planning on shooting.

Hoping our forum friends further north got out to shoot. Especially from higher elevations.

Beautifully captured George, glad you got such a nice view. I forgot all about it yesterday. We had the phenomena here once before several years ago, except it was green light then.
Absolutely going off here last night and tonight. Easily visible with the naked eye and 8 second exposures at iso800 with colour to make yer retinas bleed !
and I'm shooting with the gfx, velvia.
Also doing timelapse. This was going off at 7pm ! Currently recharging batteries while some clouds roll in but hoping it clears again as all the stuff i saw on facebook was taken at 6am.
Never seen the aurora before. Bucket list stuff, the Kp index @ 9, best here since 1932. Half the town are at the place I normally shoot astro !

Gorgeous! I wish I had known about it earlier. Based on photos from several of my local friends, it was much more active at that time. By the time I knew about it, it was more of a glow. It was bright enough to see with the naked eye, though.
Thanks Scott! It was definitely not on my plans to shoot either. I just did not expect it this far south and especially in Ga for you! I did a quick trip to Va for a family visit and turning around and heading to Upstate SC at lunch, so traveling light.
I would have planned a lot better.
Looking forward to seeing what Andy got down under!
So glad you got yours with the traveling lens. A good story to add to that adventure

Serge, you've been missed. Now I know what you've been up to. This seems a wonderful place, well captured.
Thanks, Siphiwe.
If you had seen the numerous incredible gardens of Sevilla and other cities, you might have a difficult time leaving. I suspect this will not be our last visit.
