OK, there has been some rumblings about having a second Nikki travel around the world. Nikki is an 85mm 1.8 so let's do Nikki's mom the 8.5cm 2 rangefinder.
I am ready to embark on this with the 8.5cm 2.0 in the center of the photo below. I have two others, one recently acquired in great cosmetic condition. The one I plan to send around has perfect glass, aperture, focusing, no dings but the chrome is a little scratched - any additional scratches would be a great memento of it being used well.
I will send the 8.5cm 2.0 S mount to anyone that wishes to try it out, about a month each person, we can pay the shipping forward, will ship to the first person who then ships to second etc. If any shipping that is far and expensive can be negotiated.
Will include some inexpensive but functional adapters for it to go on mirrorless.
If interested in participating PM me and tell me which mount you need, do not need your address at this time. I will coordinate the movements and this will be a relaxed trips, about a month each person.
What a great offer and opportunity! They are incredible lenses in character and construction. Hope someone signs up to get this adventure going. I have two (one S mount, one LTM mount) so I will pass, but will look forward to the pictures this group can offer!

Photo with the lens that would go on travel:
With the 85mm 1.8
With the 85mm 1.4 ...Show more →
That's fabulous, Rafael; thanks for providing the lens that will come to be known by future generations of MFNG photographers as "Nikki's Mom"! I have PM'd you, because, unlike you and George, I have never used such a lens. I just hope I don't take too much of a liking to it, as entry by the likes of me into the rangefinder lens world could have substantial budgetary implications!

I’m excited to be a part of this journey. What’s the flange distance for this lens? I’m wondering if it would work with my Lens Turbo 2 to adapt Nikon F to Fuji X?

Is that a M42 to AI adapter that is needed for a F-mount body?

The nikon rangefinder mount (S) are two, one is 'internal' bayonet, the other is 'external' bayonet, only the 5cm lenses mount on the internal bayonet, the 8.5cm mounts to the external and can be adapted to Leica thread or M mount, or to almost any current mirrorless camera, but if mounted to an F it will not focus to infinity. For practical purposes this lens can be used in mirrorless cameras only.

As I'm now the owner (thanks to Ben) of Nikki, I think this is a great idea. But please Rafael, set up a blog similar to the one we had with Nikki so we can have it for prosperity. I hope there will be some who will join up for this adventure, it was certainly fun when Nikki went around the world.

What a kind and generous offer! I hope to be a part of this lens's adventure and to be able to use it on my Nikon S2 and Z6ii. It will give me a good excuse to go shoot some film.

Not sure if "doing Nikkies mom" is the best suitable description. It reminds me a bit of Stifler's mom. But I have a photo here taken with another S mount lens.
