Amazing results! I have always heard that the 24/2.8 reversed was a great way to do macro, and as I had the 24/2 (not so well-renowned, especially macro) and didn't have the BR-2, AND I had a PB-4 to play with, I never went with reversing a wide-angle lens. I now have an AF-Nikkor 24/2.8D and BR-2a, so intend to explore this very light-weight/portable solution for high-magnification on my DF: Your photos are inspiring!
Grant,
It was in 2014 so i'm not sure, but likely another wide Nikkor. I sat in an office chair at my home built light table with a small pile of lenses to test - reversed. I just handheld them all while adjusting the strobes - painting with light and shadow. Today, I decided to just gather up images of camera gear, and I am still in shock at how many photos I found.

BTW, which Nikkor was the subject lens?
Grant,
Thanks for your wonderful comments. You end up quite close to the subject - so close that the bayonet hood (for the F-mount end of the lens) ends up blocking too much light at some focal lengths.

Reversed 24mm f2.8 ais from about 10 years ago. Even the nikon rubber knurls are so well designed.
I love this lens porn, Jim; a perfect choice for this thread! I have a reversing ring, a bellows, and some period-appropriate Nikon close-up lenses, but I have yet to put any of them to use. Gear porn might just make a good starting point for me---when I finally get around to some close-up efforts.
In the meantime, here are a few summer car show photos from my first outing with my 720nM IR-converted D7200, which was sporting the 18 f/3.5 Ai-s for the occasion.

Sitting here now listening to the hum of the generator. iPad hotspot tethered to my phone. Modern “roughing it” Electricity went out at 4:30pm when the crazy wind came through. Official reports of 69mph.
That's a strong wind. We only have gusts in the high 30s. Glad you have the generator and a hotspot available. I don't have a good enough cell connection to use as a hotspot and when we lost power we lost the internet, even with our generator running. Now, since we have fiber, we'll have internet in the event of a power outage. Vive la fiber!
Still out. Electric company is estimating later tonight. So not bad. A lot of work in the area.
Yeah, looking forward to fiber here. They buried fiber this past summer and are still building out.
I have a UPS for my demarcation equipment but it does no good with our cable internet access. As soon as the electricity goes out they go down. No UPS on their end obviously.

Hang in there. One thing you might want to check however. When I was waiting for fiber, they told me a couple of years ago that I would be one of the first to get hooked up once the line made it to the village. After I noticed a neighbor getting hooked up, I called the ISP and that said oh yea, you have to fill out an application for service first. I learned not to trust whatever they say, unless it's writing. One more thing that helped me was when they were hooking up my neighbor, they had to have excess to the pole that was on my property. Well, when they drove their bucket truck in, they got stuck and I pulled them out without them having to get a wrecker. The guys thanked me and said they would put in a good word to the ones in charge.
Sounds like inland got the worst of it George, sorry you’re out. I was watching the radar etc., it’s almost like it skipped over us. It was coming then suddenly it was beyond us. No where near the trees down or flooding in this area (but they want to raise our insurance rates 70-99%…)
I have a question. I am new to the Df and using non-ai lenses.
I get highly overexposure pictures when using apertures 4 and 5.6 on my 55mm f1.2 non-ai (the exception is aperture 1.2). I am planning on returning the lenses, and the seller said I could only use non-ai lenses on the Df with an aperture of 5.6 or faster (is this true?). With my 135Q, I do not have overexposure pictures if I use an aperture of 4 or 5.6. Am I doing something wrong?
Are you matching your aperture setting that you have set on the lens with the front command dial on the camera?

Yes, I am. With the 135Q, I do not have any overexposure pictures, only with the 55mm f1.2. But also, is it true that we cannot use apertures lower than 1/5.6?
I do not recall a limit when I used to shoot a 55/1.2 non-ai with my Df. Only able to shoot in A or M mode. I no longer have the 55/1.2 but will do have a couple f/2 non-ai lenses. I will give them a test tomorrow.
Double check that you have the correct Non-CPU information entered and selected to match the 55/1.2.

I double-checked. I do have the correct Non-CPU information. I noticed that the lenses do not close after 2.8 while attached to the camera. That is why I am getting the wrong exposure metering.
