LOVE IT! It has long been a dream of mine to visit markets just like this in Europe and around the world and then write a book about it. Maybe one of these days.

Including war. They don't, which is the best way to do a war (at least, historically seen there are fewer female agressors then male ones. still, there were notable female soldiers. including some exceptional Russian ones)
Ok, this 300mm perspective is something different after I got so used to the 55mm. I guess that a 3 lens kit with equal spacing would now be 16mm, 55mm, 300mm. Sounds like fun, so I'll rock with that for a while to see how it works out
Here are my first few snaps with the new-to-me 300mm f2,8 *ED Ai-S
Congrats too to Leighton ! you don't have a 500mm spare do you Ben ?
(Still trying to shift my 28mm f2 NC converted if anyone is interested)
Anyone using a C**** body with nikkor lenses and if so what converter ? (Just picked up a full spectrum astro converted 550D that I could use with supplied clip in IR/UV cut filter.)
Don't worry, probably never get rid of my D800 though

Buddy - congrats on the lens and the new job. That 300mm is the same model that I have. Focuses great on the X-T2 with focus peaking
I am trying to take some time tonight and make a solar filter to use on my 300mm for the upcoming eclipse on Monday. Using Baader solar film sandwiched between two 122mm filters. Hoping for clear skies. I am not quite inside the full eclipse path but expecting 97% coverage.
Have been crazy busy here at work and moving my son back to college, but keeping up with the use of the like button.

Interested to see what you get George, I hear that there has been shortages of solar filters in the US in the run up and that prices have gone crazy?
Fingers crossed for clear skies for ya on the day
Andy
Yeah, pretty crazy. I think everyone is sold out. The Baader film I have is some left over from a couple sheets I bought the other year for my telescope. I bet I could sell a sheet for $100 this weekend. I made a filter with some 77mm clear filters and used it for shooting sunspots. But for this, I figured I would go for the 300mm/2.8 and a TC on my X-T2 giving a effective 900mm/5.6
I am going to mount it on my Sky Watcher mount and have it tethered to my laptop so folks can see it while tracking.

congrats on the new job and the lens. Yes, I've got the same lens too. Maybe congrats are premature. It's great and all but lugging it around got to be too much - especially for street shooting - god knows what I was thinking. It was very nice of your dog to lift his paw for that pic.
so Andy - no I don't have a spare 500mm but I've got a spare 300mm.
Leighton - the farm blog is lovely - good to see you on a tractor doing some farm work - come to think of it that's the first time I've seen that - makes me suspect it was staged for that pic - I know how hard it is to generate content for a blog.

Andy,
Moving it up a notch with the full spectrum camera! Makes sense for astro. I can't wait to see the results.
I received my IR filter for the D7100 so the camera is destined to be taken apart this evening.

George, I've been wondering what happened to you. Sometimes life gets in the way. I'll be looking forward to seeing your eclipse images. I remember watching an eclipse when I was a kid, my uncle had several layers of 35mm transparency film in which to look through.

Thanks, I'll tell the writer. Let's keep it a little secret as who does all the work.
