303 cleaner and 303 protectant is what Will recommends

Not an image, but a question. I believe it was someone by the name of Trenchmonkey who recommended some type of chemical to help restore the cosmetics of rubber focusing rings. Would anyone happen to remember that post or remember the name of the recommended product?

The N California geology is an amazing mix of rock, some sedimentary, some volcanic, frangible mixed with enduring, in a tortured mess since it is at the intersection of 3 fault zones.
This terrain really gets treacherous inland where trees fall over deep crevasses and then get covered by branches and pine needles, resulting in a situation like an African lion trap. Twice I fell victim and each time it took me fully a half an hour to extricate, thanks to my tripod.
So, that's another reason to carry a tripod, and stay on the trail. ...Show more →
That would freak you out falling in one of those! Good idea about the tripod.

Hoppes #9… but that’s become a line of products as much as a single one. If its the “original” its a bore cleaner meant to dissolve carbon and lead deposits… I might be careful applying it too rubber if you like the lens. Go slow…

Really interesting image. Welcome to my part of the world.
The light in this picture is playing games with my brain. Is it hanging on two arms? Local department store(Woolworths) bought Country Road. They are busy trying to destroy it. Merchandise is getting louder and louder and more like fast fashion, each season. Most annoying.
Thanks Colin. My version of PS Elements basically gives up on opening the Zf NEF files. It stubbornly is sticking to its 2023 version of ACR (14.4) even when I follow the instructions for upgrading to the newer ACR version. So for now I am restricted to opening jpg files. Its probably Adobe's not so subtle hint to upgrade to the newest PSE version.
I ended up downloading their DNG converter and that works.
I don't have any Zf samples to share here yet Perhaps this weekend.

Have you purchased one?
Nikon Zf NEF files can be read directly into Lightroom. Out of curiosity I just tried it after downloading some examples.
Zf shows up as the camera in the Library filter metadata. In LR's lens profile section the camera settings profile is selected.
I couldn't find an example shot in the camera's B&W mode in order to see if that came across natively with all the film options or whether it ended up in color. So, I'd say it kind of works but maybe doesn't capture all of the file formats and features yet.
EDIT:
I did an Adobe update a few days ago and looking into the applications folders there is not one listed for the Zf.
So, I'd say it is being mapped over (likely to the Z6) until an official update is released.
Some years ago I recommended to Curtis that he use Hoppes No 9 to clean off residue of sticky labels on the metal body of his lenses. I’m with George using Dawn and warm water with a toothbrush on rubber.
I have cleaned the rubber on a couple lenses, but i didn't use any solvents. I have a series of brass bristle, and stiff fiber brushes of various sizes and stiffness. I taped off the metal parts, and put the lens caps on - while gently buffing the rubber parts.

Recommended for cleaning camera body and lens "rubber" is Isopropyl alcohol - gets rid of accummulated gunk.
I am with Peter, clean my lens bodies and glass with Isopropyl, but use it sparingly so it stays on the surfaces. I use Hoppes only in my gun barrels and it is very agressive.
I have a bottle of a solvent called Eclipse, that is/was sold for camera sensor cleaning, if the lens has tough gunk on glass, metal or rubber, I use that.
As it is the cvamera club break for December, I decided to get off my rear and take a couple of images with the 28 3.5 PC yesterday. It was a pretty ordinary day and I was shooting at either f8 or f5.6 using peaking highlightson the Z5.
To me it is apparent that the resolving power of the lens doesn't match the 24MP sensor and I find the results a little soft.
