Chris, that's a lot of lenses to carry around, even if you're in a jeep. If you have the 200-500, the 300E may not be needed. Maybe the 24-70 + a ~105mm manual Nikkor and you're done?

Thanks Samy.
There are hiking safari's and Gorilla/Chimp trekkings, besides jeep and boat safaris.
During the trekkings I don't want to change lenses.
For the hiking safari's I rather have the 300E + TC than the 200-500. :-)
Btw, I ordered a TC200 today. I intend to use it on my Q.C-135mm f/2.8, the H.C-85mm f/1.8, the 105/2.5 ais and the PC-105/2.5. I am thinking of buying the 200/4 ais as well. Do you have any tips? What are your experiences with this teleconverter?
Perhaps I shouldīve asked those questions before I bought it but I found one in good shape for a reasonable price so...why not?
I finally caved in to Ben's pressure and "Lens Gendered"
Bought a Metabones adapter and mounted a Nikon 50/1,8 on it
I feel dirty
No sure I understand the purpose
Why not just put a Nikon lens on a Nikon camera
Couple "B" word photos before it storms
I feel dirty

I think you are going to make it snow in Florida! The times, they are a changing.

In the film a lot of the studio shots were well inside the minimum focus distance...

you mean when he was having that romp with the models? yes, I guess so, although I wasn't really measuring it. But that blurry 'too close' look would have been effective. But the central sequence from which the title derived was an inadvertent plug for the resolving power of this lens.
Jay - love that corn shot, - the pun, well, the less said.......
Peter - thank you. Not a relative I don't think.
Billy - doubleuely is Billy? (I got that from Laura). Great shots with the 20. Yes, I like the B&W. The panos are sensational.
Reagan - Reagan, Reagan - I 'forced' you to lens gender? Did I tell you to buy the XT-2?? I admit that, given that you had the XT-2 and a lot of nikon lenses and were a stalwart of this thread, I encouraged you to get an adapter, but you got yourself most of the way there on your own. So now you feel 'dirty'.....GOOD!!
It's 20 x 3 minute exposures @ ISO 800 stacked in PS. These were vertical shots but I had to crop it down some as the coma of the 28/2 @ f4 is horrendous, the stars look like dragonflies at the edge of frame. Lesson learned on that one.
It seems that Kristian and Billy are stirring up my MFNAS towards reacquainting a 25-50/4 and 20/3.5. Those always made the most spectacular part of a 3 lens kit for general shooting when paired with an 80-200/4.5 AI or 50-135... it is probably a good thing that that i am currently working towards replacing my drowned D700!
Work has consumed my time of late so there is tons of stuff to catch up on along with so many diverse, & amazing pictures to digest. Have not had any time to shoot but did fire off a few frames to checkout the second hand D7100 that I recently sourced. It is destined to become my next IR camera. A 720nm filter is already in the post from Kolari in New Jersey so I have my instructions, soldering iron, air blower, cleaning cloths and screwdriver set on standby.
So, what might be one of the last colour photos from the D7100 is shown below.
