Buying thru the BX, no sales tax.
Laura, unless you're doing a lot of REALLY heavy lifting like editing 8k videos and playing games, I would save a bit of money and go for the M2 Pro Mac Mini. Or perhaps wait until September when Apple comes out with their new M3 processor to see which machine gets it first.
Wow, I can't imagine 200 vendors. In stark contrast we have a dozen tops and the thing is only open for 3 1/2 hours on Saturday morning. Mostly turned into crafts. I stopped going. The State farmers market is about an hour away and if we want something we can't find in the local grocery we go there a couple times a year.

Thanks AL, whoever you are. I'll check that out, though I discovered there is an upgrade for Nikon NX Studio that solved whatever the problem may have been. It is fairly rudimentary software but it seems to be enough for me to process images I feel comfortable sharing with friends.
Speaking of which... here are six photos I took at the Marin Farmers' Market. They say in their advertising that they have 200 vendors participating... which certainly seemed to be the case today. We had real trouble finding parking when we arrived a bit before 9:30 a.m. But we got what my friend Sue needed. I'm generally the sherpa lugging bags and wheeling carts... which doesn't leave a great deal of room for the camera and taking photos. I got a few but clearly, this is something that deserves full attention. I shot all of these with the 55 f/1.2 S.C. with the Nikon AI conversion kit installed. I was thinking about you Leighton...
This was my first photo at the vendor where we do most of our shopping. There was a line of about twenty shoppers when we finally were ready to pay... but there were four checkers so it was pretty quick. And here is another from that same vendor...
I share this in part because of the building behind the market. In fact, the market is held in the parking lot of this building... the Marin County Administrative Building... designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I've shared photos of the building in the past. It is quite remarkably... but on Sundays its just the backdrop for this huge market.

It's just always hard to beat a 50/1.2 AI-S with Tri-X. Several years ago now, still a classic and I'm pretty sure Carhartt should pay me royalties for this picture. This was either f/2 or f/2.8. It's always been silly just how sharp that lens was by f/2.
Loved the reminiscences Alan. You mention your wedding close to the time the thread started but it tickled my memory about her college graduation. You needed a lens I recall. Was it the 180 f/2.8 AI-s? If I recall correctly, I mailed my lens to you so you could take photos. Is that an old man's delusion or did it really happen?
I do know that these posts would not be complete without a photo of one of your kids. I remember the photos that would appear from time to time as you family kept getting bigger and bigger. You said Nikkie had always wanted a large family and you were going for it. I also recall you lived not too far from your extended families.
It is wonderful to see you on the board young man. Yes, you played with us and it was great fun! Glad you still have a few of these beautiful lenses in your kit...

200 vendors is so many, and those peaches (even for freestones) are so precious at $2 each. I suppose the transport costs add up and depending upon conditions, that's probably not far from what the market will bear.
Texas tends to have good peach crops in various areas but all of the pick your owns near us either got damaged by hail/wind/late freezes/drought this year so the pickings were slim. East of us a bit, one of the farms did still manage a decent crop and my parents brought us 50 pounds. They were all eaten (fresh and in cobbler) in about 4 days!
The architecture is a nice touch near the market. Our downtown market used to be right on the Brazos river under a large live oak grove but it's been moved into a parking lot for about 5 years now due to developments around the grove. I don't know if it will ever get to move back or if there will be enough access/parking for it to relocate again.
Fortunately the county courthose and ALICO skyscraper make a good background for our current location, but I always preferred the trees, especially during the peak of the summer.
Well here is "The Devil made me do it lens" (aka Curtis) that was received in honor of the threads anniversary and corresponding reappearance of the devil himself
It is a Nikon Rangefinder S mount 3.5cm f/1.8. At the time of manufacture it was the fastest wide angle in the world. It makes for a great compact package adapted to Z cameras. Even with the S to Z adapter, this lens is physically smaller than the native Z mount 40mm f/2

If the extra money is not an issue, buy the 32 GB. Whenever I choose my computers, I get the best available within my budget to last longer. I still have an old MacPro (from 2012) that is still working! I bought a new one, but my old one still has a CD room!
Curtis, I passed "fancier" ages ago. This is one of many feral cats that were born in my back yard by an amazing tortie (Momma Cat) and a gigantic long hair red tabby (George). Eventually, Momma Cat moved inside after 6-7 liters, and I found homes for her and George's offspring. Got them vet care etc. George came visiting at the slider, but wasn't interesting in living the high life.

I'm a cat fancier Jim and Oscar is precious. I'm also fond of black cats, having had one that was part of my life for a few years. I called him Black Cat... He'd been abandoned at an apartment complex my former wife and I moved into. He was dipping his paw in the swimming pool to get water as we spoke with the manager. She said he'd been using the pool and apartment dumpsters to sustain himself in the months since he was left. It took us two months to make friends and he eventually became part of our life.

Scott, I agree, much more versatile. I also hardly go below 2.8 on the 55/1.2 anyway.
The 55/2.8 is wonderful. I bought one back in ~2012 and really liked it at the time but needed f/1.2-2 much too often to justify keeping both at the time. The micro lens is a great walkabout prime, be it for markets, woods, etc. Granted with many of these lovely MF lenses, you can always reverse the lenses and have a functional micro lens or add something like a 5T closeup in front of the filter.

I haven't forgotten how you PLAYED with us... My guess even that photo has disappeared into the Archive... where NO photos are posted. I think you're safe Laura... we'll never know what you look like...
And I did check the Control Panel but I see no listing for blocked members... so perhaps I don't have such a list or it doesn't show up there. I'm still confused...

Oh wow, lovely pickup there George. That's a spectacular lens and Konica made a similar lens many decades later for LTM (the 35/2 UC Hexanon) that has a very similar optical formula. The Konica was pretty rare (only about 1000 copies made) so it's fairly expensive these days (looks like around $2k on the bay). I think it will always put a smile on your face. I could never bring myself to spring for any of the super expensive rangefinder 35's for my Leica as the Zeiss 35/2.8 C-Biogon, Voigtlander 35/2.4 and 35/1.7 (the VM ASPH version) are all so superb in their own ways that I didn't want any $1500-2000 lenses (or even any Summarit's despite those being nice lenses in their own right). I suppose I should grab a M to Z adapter for my 35/1.7.

How sweet it is... of course, you and Samy are the ones exploring the more exotic lenses of another era. This is a beauty that makes perfect sense given the cameras you have to mount these lenses. I'm happy to have made a contribution to keeping the economy moving along...
Alan... about that 180 f/2.8 AI-s. Is it my fantasy or did I send it to you so you could shoot Nikki's graduation? I'm concerned for my mental health...
Reminds me of my trip years ago to Indiana where my former wife's parents lived and visits to Amish communities there. Amazing that buggies like this are still being used in some parts of the country. I don't think the Amish have quite the pride of ownership the rest of us can have about our wheels. I'm still very happy with my Toyota Camry... so I guess at least some of my pride has dissipated... You're probably still driving a truck... right Leighton?

I had that Mac Pro as well and loved it Regina. It was an adventure figuring out what to do with all those internal hard drives when I moved to another computer. My favorite of course, was the Apple Cube... what a journey this can be if one gets hooked on Apple products...

Raphael. How’s it going? Give a thumbs up if you feel like it!
Ken and all of you!
My left eye cataract was done two weeks ago, the procedure went well but there was inner bleeding from an eye pressure procedure that obscured my vision and rendered me useless for a while.
The good news is that the blood cleared as expected and my left eye vision is already much better than before, particularly for colors, and no longer need glasses for far distance.
I can already manually focus better than before, the Z finders look a lot sharper, the F finders clear as glass.
Most important!!!, now I can see the S2/S3 rangefinders perfectly, my better color perception and sharpness is letting me see the yellow rangefinder section really well! maybe I will do film finally!
My right eye surgery is this Wednesday, will be happy if it turns out as good as the left!
Glad to see Curtis, my most expensive friend - he has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars!!

I can't honestly remember either so many things to remember. My first 180/2.8 was pretty beat up but it worked well for Nikki's graduation. I later had a nice SIC copy that was in perfect condition that I kept for a very long time but ultimately sold as I took very few shots above 105.
