These are from Cabrillo National Monument towards Coronado island and downtown San Diego. Very strong blue humidity haze and hot afternoon massing with sharpness and color balance.
C17 Galaxy? I have a little 1:200 plastic model on the desk to look at while working Cool to see an in flight picture of the plane, Rafael.

He’s wrong, agree that second one especially is excellent.

I almost didn't post that one. A friend, who has a lens evaluation website which I'm sure many of you have seen, insists that all parts of a photographic image should be in focus and sharp. He has no patience with shallow DOF and soft-focus images. I really didn't want him to see me posting this.
Fun shots. What’s the tail insignia on those Osprey? I’m used to seeing the drab green the Marines use around here.

Took a day trip to Hunting Island State Park in Murrell’s Inlet SC. Supposed to be a good wild life area, and we did see a successful Osprey (bird) hunt but wasn’t quick enough for a shot. The Atalaya Castle was more interesting for me though, fun old architecture. Lots of shots to still review.
I really like this one Ray. The overhanging tree limbs drawing the eye into the image and the distant haze/fog renders a very nice background. Nicely seen!
Great series Matt. You just missed my son down there. He is doing summer research nearby. He was telling us about Hunting Island but got bad weather on his visit.

Ray - That tree photograph is special, and the viewpoint lets me imagine it as a tree levitating, and for me hard to unsee. It's a great image!
Scott - I hope they don't have to dust off the Enola Gay, the way things are going these days. I see some red letters that look like they might list the crew on the left front. Can you read Tibbets on the original? I worked with his son some years back, but don't know if the plane made any subsequent flights after the historical one.
Regina - Very nice Hibiscus shot, and I've never seen one that looks like that.
Agreed, I really like this one. For some reason it makes me think of Jurassic Park, like some Raptors heads are about to pop up out of the vegetation. Cool shot regardless.
George, we love the low country! We were supposed to go camping on hunting Island a couple of years ago, but I forget why we cancel. Might’ve been because of Covid at the time. At any rate lots of great photographic opportunities. If you haven’t, you should put Bulls Island on your itinerary for a day or two trip. Just north of Charleston. It’s got the old trees right in the ocean, only accessible by boat and lots of alligators. It’s a pretty cool experience.

Think I found it, VMR-30, Navy Fleet Logistics Squadron. Anyway, back to the photos! More Atalaya with the 50-135. I had the 35/1.4 with me too but the day called for Cir Pol and the filter rings on it are buggered. Some wide angle work there would be fun.

Don't really know, but the hangar has the same insignia painted on it.
I visited a Lotus pond and decided to try to capture the various stages of a Yellow Lotus's life. Please forgive me for posting so many photos in one post.
One of our feeders is a metal cage with a cake of stuff that is like catnip for birds. This Downy
Woodpecker was comical in his approach to the cage. Chronological order with the 600mm f5.6 ais

All with the 50-135.
The 50-135 is always in my bag when I go on a trip. Love the first one.
