In 40 years of photography, I still have the anticipation and excitement of getting back from a trip to see what turned out on those rolls of film. I love digital, but still enjoy the occasional session with film.

Jim, this last IR series is outstanding, especially the first two.
Serge, keep Scotland coming (and the stories as well). That Calton Hill shot is terrific.
George, we are the beneficiaries of your BTS with a Z7ii, makes perfect sense to share the lenses.
A short session at the botanical gardens today. 35mm f2.0 O lens.
Castelnau des Fieumarcon, Occitaine, France. A hilltop stronghold dating back to 1143 that now functions as a private hire venue. Yes, you can rent a restored (not yet fully) medieval village so it serves as an amazing, rustic, place for the likes of weddings or corporate functions. I was attending a wedding - probably the best one I have been to as a guest since everything occured outside.
It would remis of me not to take a few door pictures for Leighton because they came in all shapes, sizes, colour and condition. The 50/2 was the only MF lens I took with me so it had to compete for time on both cameras.
British Airways decided to leave our luggage behind in London. A major IT glitch on day we flew out screwed up hunreds of flights. Just about everyone on our flight, who had checked-in baggage, fell foul of the same thing. Flight were taking off with no luggage.
So my family had to waste a full day of our short trip trying to work out what was going on and in the end we had to go shopping in Toulouse for clothes fit for a relative's wedding. We were chapperoning my wife's 89 year old mother to the event so stress levels were pretty high. Fortunately the location, food, beer, more beer, wine, more wine, champagne and meeting lots of wonderful people made up for it.
Now BA need to locate the luggage and return it......... I have a few camera accessories in one of the bags.
So... I finally picked up some cameras and lenses yesterday and ventured out, TWICE yesterday. First time was to Hartman Rock Garden, and here I brought a few MF lenses The second trip was to my granddaughter's soccer game so there were only AF lenses for that.
I had an unofficial tour guide yesterday too. I know I selected the 15mm but it's showing as 16. It's the 15mm f/3.5
The travails of travel. Glad your family still had a nice event Colin. Hope BA locates the luggage soon.

Looks like a great place to explore. Are you there now?
Leighton, I wish. Strasbourg was the first stop on that trip, back in early March. Too short a time in each place. Still have a bunch of pictures to review, including a series I did for panorama and I can't seem to figure out how to do that in PS Elements any more.
Colin, sorry to hear about your flight glitches. We frequently used British Airways in the past but after two sudden cancellations of connecting flights from Rome to London, that was it. The customer service was of little help and simply offered later flights which would have wrecked the connections from London to New York. It was a huge pain to rearrange the entire returns in a hurry.
Glad you had a great time with your family, it sounds like a fun event.

Serge,
Thanks for letting us share in your travels, and the stories you find.
Jim
My pleasure James and glad you enjoy them. We learn quite a bit on these trips and do lots of reading prior to departure.
Not long ago, I took all travel photographs with Fuji af lenses since was concerned of messing them up with manual focus. Time have changed and now rarely use af plus wanted the opportunity to share with the forum.

Serge,
Going to Munich in a couple of weeks time and flying with Lufthansa.

And what a cool looking door it is done by you and your IR kit. Thanks for thinking of me.
Leighton,
Yup, that subliminal thought is seeded in my mind.
Colin
p.s. Whilst writing the above BA just called to say they will deliver 2 pieces of luggage in about an hour. My son's R2D2 styled shell case is still missing...
Leighton, it did not take long standing there to see the opportunities in that patch of fern. They are known as Maidenhair Fern, and I probably have a half dozen or so takes that I like, some from a more oblique angle that I would have loved to try focus stacking on but I did not have a tripod on me. Both below with the 24mm f2.8 AIS.
