Here's a couple from before the fireworks started
I had the 10x stop ND filter on for a 15 minute exposure ISO100, f16
The clouds remind me of bad the colour gradients from a limited gamut or compressed file though
It looks like you and the GFX are getting along very well, Andy. You've acquired a few bodies in the recent past. Wonder if you can appraise us on what the GFX has been like so far.
I stalked a Great Blue Heron yesterday with the D7200 - 400mm f5.6 ais and the modified TC-16A. It had the makings of an Aesop fable with the interaction of a Turtle, and the Heron. I missed a bunch of good shots due to a piece of trash on the shore which my camera seemed determined to keep in focus. The head shots were taken shooting through the brush directly behind the bird in the first shot. The Turtle never took his/her eye off the bird.

Great shot Scott
I'm glad it brought back fond memories for you. Thanks for the compliment!
Back to posting as we've been gone on another road trip. The processing is the least fun.
I've really enjoyed the pics posted over the past month and I liked all the car shots.
Starting off here are a few from a Pub and restaurant called the "globe and Laurel" just south of Quantico Virginia, It's been sold now as the original owner and founder id Rick Spooner, Major USMC (ret) who is now 91. A veteran of WWII he enlisted as a private the later commissioned. The Pub is devoted to the Corps with unbelievable memorabilia The ceiling are devoted to law enforcement because of the proximity of the FBI Academy also aboard Quantico.
Came away with two images I really like, and found even more respect for the 25-50mm f4 ais. The 20mm f2.8 ais spent the day on the infrared converted 5D, and the zoom on the 5DS-R. I am falling in love with dark sky landscapes.

Pretty Sky - IR

EDIT
I found out what was causing the cross hatch pattern in the shadows on the D7200 (and it turned out to be in the 5D too) - it is the "geometric distortion" tick box on the auto align part of image stitching.

Good to hear you sorted out the cross hatching issue. Great to see your fab dark sky images.
I write this while in the car on the way to Scotland on the M6 and heading past Steve’s neck of the woods right now - so hi Steve!
Good travels Colin, hopefully your wife is driving

Jim - Very pretty skies there Jim ! I'm not always a fan of IR images but these are really nice.
Jay - very atmospheric and somewhat spooky shots Jay, especially the graveyard shot.
Ken - my ears pricked up at the mention of Quantico and then my eyes pricked up as I saw the UK law enforcement badges. Amazing number in that first shot !
Siphewe - foxgloves, lavender and delphiniums, memories of home.
I've had a busy week, sold both my motorcycles and my car in preparation for my move.
Unfortunately, it means I'm a little stuck for transport for my last 2 weeks at work but I'm working on it ! Getting an Uber in in the morning ($31 AUD) and hoping to use a car from work that people used behind their motorhome. Unfortunately it's a Daihatsu Terios but beggars can't be choosers at this stage
Here's more from the GC Motor Museum, this time some bike shots

IR bench shot is just stunning. My eyes are just drawn to the bench immediately. Power of great composition and lighting, and IR really works on that scene. It feels as if something is just about to happen...
