Speaking of gardens. When we were growing for market, all our money and energy went into producing vegetables. So the landscaping around the house was non-existent. It's a pleasure to have a little color around now.
When I had a large patch (about 20'x20') I used Sevin's powder. That worked for 12-15 years. That patch petered out, and that garden became a patio, This is only four plants I put in last year (roots were on sale) - so their first full year. Just digging a 8-10' long & one foot deep trench with a shovel wore me out. Hoping to be able to start harvesting in May of 2024, but might get a few spears in 2023. .
The asparagus ferns are a very fond memory to me. When I was a boy, one of the largest sour cherry orchards in the world was bull-dozed near the tip of the Leelanau peninsula. Way back when - it had it's own wharf, and canning factory on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. In the orchard's place they planted hundreds of acres of Asparagus. To watch the wind move through the fields was like a religious experience, and the field was full of white-tail deer. I hunted in those fields for deer, pheasant, and partridge with ferns towering over me. So, I don't really care if I never get anything to eat, but I'm going to try.

Nice garden shots Jim. I especially like the asparagus. Our's are under attack by Japanese Beetles at the moment.

It looks good imo. Though I'm not sure yet if I like the second silver ring it adds and the non-removable (?) tripod socket. But the latter makes the body look a bit bulkier and maybe the adapter like a less long tube..

Looks good. I'm sure the previous one didn't have the tripod mount. Having both FTZ I and II, I really wish it didn't have the tripod mount. Its absence makes a world of difference.

Yep I have the previous version (which is still available on ebay btw) and it doesn't have a tripod mount. But it is thicker overall, judging from the pictures of the new one. I ordered the new one as well, but it will take 1-2 months to be delivered.
Agree on the FTZ v1 vs v2. Would love to have the v2, but I just can't justify the cost given there are no other benefits like AF-D support. For MF Nikkors, I prefer the Shoten because it weighs less and looks better.
The tripod mount on the new Shoten seems to be much nicer designed than the one on the FTZ. I think they were inspired by the mount "collar" of the FM2:
Ah sorry don't misunderstand, I'm not looking for an adapter. Just always interested solutions that makes MF Nikkors look & feel more like they do on F bodies. In preparation of the inevitable full-frame Z f
That Novoflex adapter is imo overpriced and incredibly ugly

Aah, I see. I am not familiar with FM2 except for what I've seen in pictures. Now I understand. The first one appealed to me after seeing one posted here. I love the FTZ II, but I agree, too expensive at full price if they are to be used just for MF Nikkors. They went on sale here last month at 50% off, so I just bought two since none of the Z Nikkors are exciting me enough to replace the F mounts I have yet.

Siphiwe, look at the 85 1.8 if you haven't yet. I have it and really like it.
