I really like the muted colors in the second one. Great exposure to capture the mood

I like the softer background to put emphasis on the trunk of the tree.

I liked the lighting on the tree from the low sun angle. Question is softer background or more traditional deep landscape DOF?

I prefer the second one since the contours of the trunk are more prominent.

Hi, everyone:

Jose, great captures and congratulations on the new toy.

The Nashville skyline from the pedestrian bridge across the Cumberland River. Large sections of the city are recent developments and judging from the number of tall cranes in operation, much more to come.

A brutal thorny evergreen shrub native to NE Africa and Iberia. A relative of the sweet pea family.
We used to go to a Common as kids that was covered in the stuff, with narrow pathways between the bushes !

Colin, It is amazing that you managed to get her in focus - whereas the background isn't.

Ray - I like the one more in focus, seems to work better for me with the nice lighting on the trunk.

Here are my final three images from this past weekend, all infrared.

Nikon Z50IR. I lost track of the lenses I used, but these were taken with the Series E 100/2.8, 35/2-O, or 55/3.5 AI'd. I really need to start making notes when I take photos.

Scott,

After changing lenses you could take a picture of the lenses you were not using.

Scott,

Love that series. Old lantern reminds me of one I used to use camping out in the woods behind my house as a kid. The middle shot with the tree is great!

More rust, different bridge. The rusty member is from the 1879 railroad bridge replaced a few years ago by the new arched span in the background. Taken with the 55 f3.5 Ai'd. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the kind remarks.

Colin, good idea. I'll have to give it a try.

George, that tree really caught my attention. The way it bends to the left really makes it stand out. I had a lantern similar to this one, also. It's a wonder that I didn't burn down the woods with it.

Scott, the lantern photo is my favorite, too. I was driving down a back road and there was a barn sitting maybe 10 feet off the road with this lantern hanging in the doorway. There was no way I could pass up an opportunity to stop and photograph it. Nice shot of the bridge. There's just something about rust that I really like...as long as it's not on my stuff!
