Not much new stuff from me lately. I got an offer I couldn't refuse on a 24" printer and have been spending most of my photo time trying to get up to speed.
Here are few older 50/1.2 shots that were recently re-processed using Silver Efex Pro. The location is the Santa Fe train depot in San Diego. The metal blocks are elements of a sculpture by Richard Serra.
This is the town-hall of Bolsward, a small city.
It was build in 1614 -1617 and is very well preserved. It is in a narrow street and not possible to have a good image of the from (I tried with the 20mm).

I know... it seems rather impossible to do since I'm such a lover of cheese. At the moment I'm simply reading the science related and learning about the health benefits of eating a whole food plant based diet. Time will tell what changes this will have on what I choose to eat. At the moment I'm on an acid-reducing diet to deal with acid reflux, with guidance from a doctor. That has prompted me to do more in-depth reading on the subject. It is difficult following the guidance of the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, who receive the bulk of their financial support from agribusiness and pharmaceutical interests... or from the federal government which appears more interested in supporting agribusiness and big pharma than in pursuing public health. So I'm trying to educate myself. I'd like to live to be a hundred...
I'm Dutch. No way I'll ever stop eating cheese, even if nowadays, I don't eat cheese or meat all that frequently. I'm neither a vegetarian, nor attempt my luck on a vegan diet, but Kristina eats vegan foods, with the added difficulties of an intolerance for sugar and a vicious allergy against wheat. There are a few other allergies and intolerances in the mix, but I can tell you, trying to cook vegan and leaving out wheat and sugar is a real challenge!
On the subject of cheese, I just bought some really nice Old Amsterdam cheese to go with Georges coffee. Still have a few beans left, that will serve for another pot or two of coffee. So far I have not been able to find a coffee as nice as Georges homebrew beans.
(Also tastes great the next day, heated up in a kettle, and with 2 spoons of sugar)

My partner Sue has health challenges and eats a very limited diet as well. She is gluten free and at the moment is eating raw food only during the day with cooked vegan food in the evening. It is challenging when people who spend their lives together are eating different diets. The only way we can share a meal is when I'm prepared to have a fruit smoothie or a salad. I've no doubt my exploration of these issues comes in part from having been exposed to her way of eating. It is definitely a work in progress.
I did get rained on that day. I was way down in the gorge where there's that stone bridge going over the river, the spot with the 127 steps down (and 127 steps back UP)...

Nice Laura. Looks like you had great weather the day you visited. Very different from winter when the ice buildup from the water mist if extremely thick along where you were standing.
My last offering for a few days. After a quick shower I head to the airport for my flight to Minneapolis. My cousin and brother will pick me up at the airport and whisk me away to a Minnesota Twins' baseball game. There had been rain in the forecast but now it is clear with highs around 90 degrees. I know from first hand experience that in July the high temperatures come with high humidity. I WILL have my camera at the game so expect some photos eventually... Have a great week everyone.
Ok. I am planning my vacation trip and will need to plan out which camera lens setup to take. I plan to take trip to some hill stations so I do intend to take some time for photography.
Any recommendations given that my main focus should be landscape. If I have a chance, I might as well take some telephoto like the 200-500mm but I dont. the other MF lenses are but too heavy for the flight travel and limiting.

Don't be too afraid about the weight limitation. There're several ways to deal with it.
Spread the weight between your fellow-travelers (if there're any).
Wear a photo vest and put some gear in it.
Hang one camera + lens around your neck,
Most of the time my photo backpack weighs 12-15kg. Only thing is your backpack should have the right size.

the biggest hurdle are two key things. One there is a weight limitation on the flight travel as I am going to see my family. Second, on some of these spots, I will likely travel with family, though I plan to sneak out early in the sunrise, sunset time for the shots and come back to spend time with family.
I usually take my D40 since its really light but I dont want to miss out on quality shots which I might have to blow up.

Sometimes, life throws a surprise at you. Today we found this little starving fellow on our hike, and since we already thought it wouldn't even survive the trip home, but here he is, gaining strength and making us wonder what to do with him when he regained his strength
