Another of the Town Hall, this time from a different angle for the tree, just 2 landscape shots on top of each other = 1:1 square format.
As discussed previously, I'm now shooting Raw+jpeg, using a mono Picture Control so that I'm seeing mono in the EVF, getting a mono jpeg and the original colour RAW file too.
Happy birthday Andy - and it's another from me for the color version.
I guess you have fallen foul of friends and family rolling your birthday and Xmas gifts into one?
Great shots Andy. And I will chime in with a Happy Birthday too!
George

Not much to look at but the kitchen image was taken in total darkness with my IR modified D610 and an IR modified Vivitar flash. The IR output (faint red pulse) from the flash is barely noticable to the human eye. Focus on the 24/2.8 NC lens was set to about 2m and aperture at f/8.

Cool, it gives one a feeling of looking at a 1950's black and white image of a kitchen, something you might see on Leave it to Beaver or similar shows. Style is off of course, but maybe someone else will get what I am saying.
Ominous skies coming off the trail at dusk today. Weather now more like October/March than end of December. Mid 70's forecasted all week with a chance of storms. Crazy.
Seems almost any light source has infrared in it. Studio strobes, led, compact fluorescent - probably incandescent and other sources would work as well. However, sunshine and blue skies - perhaps with some puffy clouds seem to produce the best results IMO. Unfortunately, I live in one of the cloudiest places on earth. Here are two gray kitties in IR Black and white.

Cats are certainly winter staple here, I find myself limited to weekends in the new year, especially with the return to the office and winter with long commute getting to work in the dark and getting home when it's dark and 95% highway between. I am not very mobile right now anyways, bad back problems affecting my legs slowing me down considerably.
Our cat here is not very photogenic, lol, I am a landscaper, outdoor, open space kind of shooter normally, but I need to change things up a bit now. That's my resolution this new year, get closer shots.
May the sun shine through and brighten up your opportunities!

Has the waiting period gone down there? It has been reduced from 6mths after your 2nd shot to 4mths for the booster jab here.
Which means I can get my booster now instead of 25th Feb
Andy
In SA it's 6 months unless you have a dr's letter. Due on 15 January.
Whatever else, there's good discipline here. Masks in public are mandatory and only taken off in open spaces with few people. Every shop has a "No mask, no entry" policy and noone thinks twice about sanitizing going in and often coming out. We have realtively few anti-vaxxers and they're a nuisance not a real problem.
I think those of us old enough to remember the polio epidemics of the early 1950's and the awful results of contracting the disease wouldn't even think twice about getting a shot - strange old world

It's my 54th Birthday today btw.
Andy
Congrats Andy - many happy returns of the day.
I love the mono image, very strong and amazing treatment. Also underlines how mono reveals the elements of the image without the distraction of colour.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone, much appreciated.
Decided not to be lazy and waste my last day in the city yesterday so went for a walk along the river and up to New Farm for a night shot of the Story Bridge with the city behind. On the way there is a zig-zag walkway at water level over the river, the zigs (or is it the zags?) providing opportunities for shots of the bridge from a lower level. 5 horizontal images stitched in LR.

Mark,
Fortunately my commute is either to the study or a 15 minute commute to go to the office a couple of times a week. The weather here in the south of England has been really miserable so I have had to resort to mundane indoor shots to get a photo fix.
This time the 55/2.8 micro and a set of colorful led lights adorning an indoor plant.
