Wednesday, I was getting a migraine at work, took my meds, and thought little more. Thursday, still had migraine, and started coughing. Took more migraine meds, and kept going. Friday, sneezing joined the coughing, and also stuffy nose along with the migraine. Got home from work and felt really tired. Went to bed early, and got up at my normal go to work time... I still felt tired, so actually called off. I have a pulse ox reader from my days as an aide/nursing student, and it always read in the upper 90's for me those days, so figured it was just a cold...
My daughter said I should go get tested, but I balked. Called the nurse line, and after going over everthing, they agreed a test was in order. Go to the base ER, and they do the test (no more brain biopsy thankfully) and I wait for the doc. He checks my lungs and says they are clear. I nap on the stretcher (I brought it down from the upright position by myself...) Doc comes in a while later and says congrats, it's covid. So yeah, I'm a breakthrough case. I had planned on getting my booster shot but couldn't get away from work to get it. Six months from my second shot was 01 Nov.
If you're past your six months from your second shot, go get the booster. Yes I wore my masks religiously at work and anywhere else in public. I've done most of my grocery shopping via pick up service or delivery service. I'm out of work for at least 10 days now. Thankfully I have annual leave and sick leave to cover me. I'm pretty sure that it is a work related transmission.

Transported about sums that up. It just felt weird today.
At first glance the second one looked like a bubble pic - almost thought you were doing bubble pics too, but I looked closer......and it's better your way. I'm with Leighton, wonderful.

Thanks Ben. It was your bubble pic that I was thinking about when I was framing this shot.
I mentioned that the weather didn't cooperate for the sunset, of course as I drove back I can see the weather behind me clearing nicely so stopped at Cape Patton lookout to grab a quick handheld pano.
Just a test to figure out how to link from flickr. I feel like a total dinosaur dealing with computers.

Colin, yes I did! Had to since the White Vette was a 2016, with 65k miles (104Km) on the clock and sold it for $9k less than what I paid new. Got the “Laguna Red Mist” with 12,500miles (20Km) at better than wholesale from my now retired mechanic.
I did order a 2023 and it won’t be til this time next year before it comes in.
Car values in the US ARE CRAZY. Some say pandemic lockdowns in some states, especially NYC, where people don’t own cars are fleeing to areas (like Florida) where they need one. Another reason is the micro chip shortage putting a halt on new car production, therefore driving up used car prices.
BTW there was a fellow from Scotland at our place here to soak up the sun. ...Show more →
Same here Ken. Used car prices have increased over the last year or so.
The auto industry only have themselves to blame over chip shortages since they cancelled orders when the pandemic hit.
The slack in wafer fabrication capacity got picked up by consumer products due to the huge increase in demand brought about by working from home scenarios. Needless to say the OEM's supplying the auto industry were surprised that the semiconductor suppliers couldn't just turn on the tap again. Silicon wafer prices have increased so that means chip prices have increased. The auto industry doesn't like that since OEMs usually demand rolling annual price reductions for the components they purchase.
Tired, sneezy, coughing, headache, nausea, and a couple bouts with the runs, Ben. Nausea also tried to sneak in there Now I can't sleep, either, but I'm still tired. Only med I've taken is ibuprofen. I've bumped my vitamin C up by 2. Sort of better, but still meh.
Doc also ordered a regeneron treatment. Work nurse called to do contact tracing that is work related. I expect the county to call soon for further tracing. I've already contacted those I was in close contact with for any length of time over the last two weeks, including the vet. Two people are resistant to getting tested. (not the vet) One works in health care and should know better.
Minimum of Saturday, 11 Dec before I can go back to work.

Hope you get to feeling better soon, got my booster 6 months to the day, no reactions and glad I got it, especially with the new variant popping up now. I think the shots will be a way of life for a long time to come!

Get well soon Laura. Just goes to prove how easy it is to get infected with the newer more virulent strains as I know you have been very careful.
No masks here in Melbourne now except in shops but I need a negative test to get back into Queensland next week so I'm taking no chances as there are over 1000 cases a day here still. Not due my booster until Feb 2022.
I NEED to get back in as I have a new job starting on 4th Jan as a luxury RV Service Tech.
I could fly in now but have to home quarantine (then my daughter and her partner would also have to) or hotel quarantine ($3000+). The border to drive in should open on 17th, apparently 40,000+ vehicles want to cross into QLD, again will need a pass, fully vaxxed and a negative test.
This is despite Omichrom having already appeared there.
(There are no clusters in New South Wales according to QLD - they just declared the whole of NSW and Victoria as red zones. Come from or through a red zone and you have to jump through hoops to get in even if you are a QLD resident which I am)
There have been thousands of people having to camp or sleep in their cars on the QLD border for months, lots have run out of money/savings. People with kids too. What their mental health must be like....
And now, other states are closing borders again. Absolute sh1t show.

Laura, get well quickly! Even though you didn't get to the booster it should hopefully not be too bad. This is an insidious virus and only solution is going to be the whole world getting vaccinated like happened with smallpox and polio.

Andy, you are on a roll my friend, wows and thumbs up for all your work! I ended up sending the GFX 50R back and will be getting the IIS in its place, should have ordered that one from the get go! IBIS will allow me to really settle into this camera and enjoy it! I was tempted to just get the 100S but I have no need for all those pixels, the files would be around 100MB in RAW, I already have way too many hard drives and DVDs of old photos, lol
