3rd time was the charm. Major QC issues on the first two. First one the aperture control was not even engaged with the aperture ring, second one the optics were in major misalignment. This one is good. I did do a fine tuning for infinity on the moon the other night. Easy to adjust on the Metabones and they even post a how to on their website. So good there.

Thanks Peter. Yes, going to smoke a turkey this year.
We have decided not to have Thanksgiving at our house any longer. We decided to turn the job over to our oldest daughter and we'll just hang out and enjoy the day. Our house just kept getting smaller and smaller, as the Grandson's got older and older.
All these 15mm f3.5 ais images got me wondering. I use to have a Sigma 14mm f2.8 that had lensflaritis. So I sold that massively heavy beast. Since I have this "other" Nikkor to experiment with that I can't show you the results of adapting the 12-24mm f4 AFS DX to a full frame sensor I will descrbe the results. Wow - it works! Vignette disappears at roughly the 14-15mm range - might get better as you stop down. These were all shot with the 55mm f3.5 AI'd lens

Our overall extended family pretty much does their own thing on Thanksgiving. But since my mother-in-law passed away a few years ago, our house has become the default for a large gathering between Christmas and New Year for my wife's family. She is in the middle of 4 brothers. Yes I had to toe the line when dating her .
There were about 30 here in 2019. But I think it has expanded over the last year with marriages and births. We are hoping we can do it this year after missing last one.
Ben,
Thank you. It is a story all by itself, but I don't deny the lazy part. Let's just say life got in the way, and I am trying to get back some of what i lost. Valleys make you appreciate the mountain tops...loss makes you enjoy gains. (or some other rot like that) I'm baaack...sorta.

Jim - interesting pano. I went to your blog. It was great. Some wonderful posts. My only criticism is that you've been too lazy and not posted enough. Nothing from 2016 to this year and only 3 posts in 2021. (Loved the post about Max and Beryl).
I have the Binford 2000 of leaf blowers that blows like 250 mph. It literally hurts my back to use it, because I have to keep my core extra taunt so it doesn't blow me off my feet, or spin me into the ground. Plus, I have to drag a 100' electrical cord around. So I went to Dirt Cheap Tools Are Us (Harbor Freight) and got a cordless leaf blower - what a joy to play with a semi-capable tool. While waiting for the battery to recharge (bet you saw that coming) I used the 55mm f3.5 AI'd for a - SURPRISE - a macro. What a lens!

Very interesting Jim. I've got the 18mm f3.5 and would love something appreciably wider, 12mm is perfect. I've got the Sony 12 -24mm f4 which adapts easily to my Z7. I was looking at the Laowa 12mm which comes in rf mount, but I would never have thought of the nikon DX lens. That vignette is not too bad.
And you do know I was pulling your leg about your blog. I don't know about laziness, that sounds too harsh to me. I'm glad you're back. But please, you post when you want to, or not. Stick to your own pace, it'll probably work out better in the long run.
James What beautiful color, it almost makes me miss my times raking endless amounts of leaves in the NE only to have them blown back all over the yard by the wind. Then the were the gutters!
I shot with that 12-24mm when I had my D200, but I had a soft copy.
GeorgeBo I appreciate your selection, I would often hike to this waterfall and chose a couple of different viewpoints. It gets hard to stay objective once I process the results!
Here's one I visited less frequently that required a steep and often slippery descent into a deep charming canyon.
That's a beauty Jay! I had forgotten about the soft 12-24mm afs dx lenses. I had read a review that claimed it was so sharp you could cut your eyes on the images. I went through my local brick and mortar camera shop's entire three, or four samples to find one good one.

BTW the 12 mm setting of the AFS on a FX sensor it has the image in a circle, and at 13mm it shrinks. Somewhere around 14-15mm it is almost gone. If had had stopped it down more I would have expected the vignette to also disappear some. I did close it slightly with the adapter to about f5.6.

Just one question - It's an F mount lens, why do you need an adapter ?
I seem to recall a lot of DX lens reviews mentioning at what focal length the zooms were usable on an FX body back in the day, probably when the D3/D700 were released.
Went on the tram to St.Kilda for sunset last night, used the 105/2.5 on Z6ii with the FTZ
It was a bit of a bust as I soon realised that the longer exposures required and the stiff breeze would result in very blurred boats in the foreground so had to try other views.
The building with the gold top reflecting the sun is called the Eureka Building. It used to be the tallest building in the S.Hemisphere apparently, has a viewing floor and a glass box that you can stand in as it extends out of the building. It's been superceded by the building to the left with the gold star thing half way up.
Andy,
I don't need an adapter to use any Nikon F mount lens on my Nikon bodies, but I do on my Canon bodies. When a lens lacks an f-stop
ring - you need a different adapter to control the f-stop. This is the adapter that I used to shoot these on the Canon 5DS-R. If I could
adapt the other way (C > N) I would, because I want the option to use any lens on any body I own. I think it stems from getting rid of all my film gear between 2001 and 2005. I had a huge collection of lenses I still regret selling. Lenses are like brushes to help paint with light.
