I've been thinking about manual focus lenses for a bit now for the possible tactile feel of the focus ring. Do the focus rings have a weighty feel to them or do the rotate effortlessly? Are there any lenses that have a high amount of rotations (I guess a long throw?) from mfd to infinity to allow for really precise focusing with tiny adjustments? Looking at longer lenses like 85 or higher or possibly wides in the teens with 1.x apertures. Not looking for amazingly sharp options, wanting a character-full lens.

Interesting roofing job. Are those clay tiles or a composite? Either way, I bet it is really expensive.
The tiles are the same that were in the house already, Leighton, they look and feel like clay tiles but have some sand content and are called cement tiles, strong enough to step on, heavy and $4 a pop. The job is replacing all the roof paper, rotted wood and broken tiles. Tiles have a screw holding them in place. It is a lot of work with a lot of sealing of fireplaces, vents, skylights etc. Expensive yes.
Rafael, great shots of the classic autos. Out of the lot, would gladly take the GT500.
Siphiwe, good to see your darker side and nice photos with the V1. I nearly picked up the V1 many moons ago when B&H Photo was practically giving them away.
The elderly bathing couple had the beach to themsleves until we arrived.
The cove brightened up for a few minutes and then the cloud came rolling in again.

Wow, this really is labor intensive. I had no idea that the tiles were reused. If the tiles were still in good shape, how did you know to do the other work?

Colin - is this recent? Does this mean if I came to the UK now I could still go swimming?

Ben, you manage to get the most interesting poses/expressions from the ladies. It's as if they are aware someone's documenting.
Wondering where is Philipe, he nails the men.
Siphiwe - thank you, I couldn't get over her expression, like she'd just sucked on a lemon. As for Philippe, good question, I don't know where he is. I'm following him on Flickr of course, but he's currently still posting his holiday pics from a month ago. I keep making snarky comments about them and he keeps ignoring me. It's perfect!

When are we invited to your cabin, Jay?
Alas the cabin is booked pretty solid for the foreseeable future, even with the wet basement, but the bridge is open. It too has easy river access, just right for canoeing and kayaking.
bruni Well seen, it is a treat to see your take on the great theatrical set that is Rome!
I too was amazed at how perspective transformed that lighthouse. It is a rare lighthouse that has a 2 story building so close to afford a different view.
