Thanks guys. I spoke with Sue about posting here and she asked how the thread is going. I said it's a bit slow, but then as some of you remember those were very heady days when Nikki traveled around the world. That Great Lens Adventure created quite a rush of activity. I had to go back and look at the graphic I created some time ago just to remind myself how busy this thread was. In 2012 and early 2013 we added THIRTY THOUSAND posts to this thread in 274 days... that's 110 per day... or five and a half pages EVERY DAY. I extended my calculation and the thread as everyone here knows has slowed down dramatically. The last ten thousand posts took 605 days. The last thirty thousand posts took 1,468 days. There's nothing wrong with slow and I completely understand it is affection for these lenses and for the friends we've made who share our passion that make this thread a fine place to visit. I'm always happy to see familiar names on the thread even if photography has taken a step back in my life over the last few years.

Keep up the excellent work everyone. I promise when the spirit moves me to pick up my Df I'll be back to share some work. Although I still own two AF lenses, they NEVER make their way to my camera. I guess I keep that 50 f/1.8 and 85 f/1.4 for sentimental reasons, but it will always be the manual focus lenses that make my heart sing.

Curtis, so great to hear from you. Please tell Sue we are thinking of her. Yes, things are a little slow here, but the quality of what is posted has been truly wonderful this past few months. I fear the current situation with the virus and other global, local and personal issues are most likely pre-occupying us all. I am here every day, but have not posted in quite a while. I am attaching a redo of a post from several years back with the Df and the my much loved 180mm 2.8 ED. Love that flower!!!

Happy Eleven, and best wishes and many thanks for all the wonderful images you share here!

Hugs to All.

Mary

Jay,

Every time I think it is safe, you bring on the 24 PC and send my wallet into hiding.
You have really been sharing some joy with us lately!

Thank You for that!

This is a lovely perspective, Colin. The bigger version is even better. Was it taken with the broken lens too?

Jay, I love the place you've been to lately.

Stuff happened in the garden. The beautiful purple got replaced with ... grass. Photogenic grass, it seems. In the dying days of winter, poppies became cut flowers. Surprisingly looks cool.

Yes it was taken with my suspect 135.
If you look at the bottom of the image the bridge is kind of fuzzy.
In landscape mode that fuzziness moves to the left hand side.
When I go looking hard I can see evidence of it in lots of images so I don't believe it is depth of field related.

Yesterday I opened up my 50/2 H lens, removed all of the elements, and gave them a good clean.
The inner face of the front element benefited the most.
I plan to do the same for the 135. Maybe I'll come across something during the dis-assembly.

That was useful. I suspected it when I looked at the original, at largest size the bottom did look a bit blurry but I was very impressed with the rest. Having not looked at issues of decentering much I was curious if that's how it looks but also thought it might be a dof issue. The rest of the frame looks great so I'm voting for the attempt to fix the lens.

Hi Curtis

So good to see you back. Please give Sue my condolences on her loss. As older participants on this thread we're all to aware of our own mortality and I know you are an excellent counsellor.

I think the love for the MF lenses never goes away but with my participation in camera club matters and spending a lot of time experimenting in different genres, I find myself at the long end trying to get decent images of birds and at the short end focus stacking flower images. I have a lot to learn in both cases.

I do hang out here a lot and am delighted that Siphiwe is carrying the flag for SA on the thread. Overall the quality of images on the thread is as good as the best from the past. Some of the reason for the slow down is probably the drift away from Nikon cameras as their mirrorless offerings have fallen slightly behind the opposition. I'm sure they will be back.

All the very best to you and to Sue.

Peter

Thanks, Jay. I wanted a wider view in the first but there was a line of waiting photo snappers behind me.

I am sure it would be a great design touch to your home.

Great captures with the 24mm PC-E.

Well done, long time no paddock pictures with a wide. These remind me of Peter (pburke). It's been a while since he visited.

Few more with the Bronica & Nikkor-H.C. 75/2.8 (Portra 400).

Bit more experimentation with border scanning ... this time with most of the entire border. I used the new Essential Film Holder mask purposely made for this. Only holds the neg down on the left and right hand side of the frame but seems to stay flat enough.

Not too sure about any of these borders actually. They work OK on some shots on certain backgrounds but a lot of the time they look a bit silly IMO.

Curtis, thanks for visiting! My condolences to Sue. Good to see you still have the Df and pick it up once in a blue moon.

Colin, I have been enjoying that perspective of London. Its fun to go up and down that picture and look at the colours and architecture along the way.

Dean, keep on posting those Bronica/Portra 400 pics here. Those are a delight!
