Our farm lost a valued worker last night. Gus got sick 2 days ago and was gone when I went outside this morning. We never lost a sheep with him on guard!
Kept my promise to Laura - the iris with the 105 2.5 + 20mm tube and the succulent flower with the 80-200 f4 + 36mm Both on M + auto ISO. Processed in PL4 and PSE 12
Our club is far from cliquish and I have benefited from my membership and from my membership of the Photographic Society of SA. Sadly one of the stalwarts of the PSSA died yesterday from Covid. Stay safe this pandemic is real and worldwide!

So great to see the huge variety of great images continue to pour into this thread.
With 200/F4. Focusing with this lens is still a bit of a challenge for ne, but slowly getting better.

So sorry for your loss, Leighton He looks like a really hard worker too! What breed was he?
I just got a Corgi a few months back and actually thought of you. Would be cool to see him herd sheep.
Thank you Joseph. Gus was a Great Pyrenees. This breed has been used through the ages for predator protection with livestock. They do not herd at all, they mostly sleep during the day and are up all night keeping guard.
Congrats on your Corgi. I have wanted one of those for some time. Which kind did you get?
Peter, really enjoyed your local photography magazine, it even has a portrait done by you! Please do post the link when you finish editing the magazine versions.
And looks like you took Laura's comments to heart, great results! I have actually thought about that HDMI screen option before although not for casual walk arounds.

Laura, thanks for the kind words! Adding an external monitor to the paraphernalia that I schlep around would be the final straw! I'm doing a bit of flower and macro photography at the moment and am in love with my 105 2.8 micro nikkor which is another excuse to stay AF. Also I've got quite involved in the camera club scene and have been entering various salons with not much success. I know it's not the gear but IBM's fault ( Idiot Behind Machine) and if there's been any positive from this whole Covid thing , it's that I've had hours of video inspiration and practce at technique and post processing.
However, as you have reminded me , this community is too caring and too important to ignore so I'll load up my bag with a couple of MF lenses and venture forth this week ...Show more →
Luka, the 200 f/4 is an under-appreciated lens. Just checked the focus throw, its 205 deg!
