Took the day off yesterday and went to Grass Island (Tap Mun Chau). 2hr trip but well worth it. Very hot and humid so basically had the place to myself which was nice. No cell coverage here either ... which was also very nice!
These are from the Tin Hau temple on the island. I think nearly every island has a Tin Hau temple as they're dedicated to a sea goddess and protect sailors/fisher-people etc. This one is particularly beautiful I think. Around 250 years old.
Taken with the Bronica EC-TL, Nikkor-O.C. 50/2.8 & Nikkor-H.C. 75/2.8 (Portra 400). I used both the 6x6 & 6x4.5 backs. Much easier to frame for 6x4.5 now that my new focusing screen has the 6x4.5 lines etched in
The 6x6 shots are around 7,500px x 7,500px. 6 shots each image from my D750 and then stitched/merged in LR and processed in Negative Lab Pro as DNG's. Works pretty well. Usually you’d only get around 3,500px x 3,500px single shot from a D750. Probably overkill
However, the early morning did bring a photographic reward. While I never did get to a good place to frame what I wanted with an eclipsed sun (I only had about 20 minutes from sunrise till the eclipse ended), the view below stopped me for a few minutes on my way to trying to find a good spot. 50-135.
It was 1982, and the US Border Patrol had set up an indefinite checkpoint between Dade and Monroe counties on US Route 1, the only exit road out of the Florida Keys. The international border-style roadblock thoroughly searched every single car for drugs and illegal aliens, creating a 23-mile-long traffic jam and a lot of pissed-off tourists. Delayed and infringed upon, they spread the word, causing would-be visitors to the Keys to cancel their trips. It was a gut punch to the Keys' economy.
So the mayor of Key West decided to secede from the Union
and declared war on the United States
thus forming "The Conch Republic"
The road block was soon taken down
The Conch Republic flag still flies in most places in The Keys
In the upper right hand corner is the date 1828, when the city of Key West and Monroe County incorporated, and the six stars of the constellation Cygnus, the swan, also called the Northern Cross. In the lower left hand corner of the flag are four more Stars, the constellation of the Southern Cross.

I remember driving up to see that when we lived in Mystic CT in the 80's. Used to camp at Misquamicut State Park near there.
Definitely something to see up close.
Have been enjoying your Newport series too Serge. I went to a school in Newport when I was in the Navy.
George
Thanks George and glad you enjoy the views. It was a very short break but a welcome change from the medium apple.
It is a nice little cottage alright. I am with you, hang out at the park and save the cash for the real fun stuff. Next time we are in the area will check out Misquamicut.
