Funny you should mention
Tang
It was the ASTRONAUTS DRINK
I was allergic to it as a kid it would make me break out in hives
Very disappointed child
One of my first disappointments in life
Would any of the UK contributors care to recomend a good repairer to overhaul a MF Nikon lens please? I have a 100mm f/4 Micro Nikkor that works well but needs a service to the focussing helical, it has a bit of 'inertia' and is,a little stiff, needs a clean an relubricate I think.

Hi Gerry
There is Fixation in London and Manchester they can do a CLA for you. There are other places too, on on the south coast, but I can't remember his name at the moment, though I will trawl through my old contacts for him. (He also does Leica gear)
I guess you will get replies from other members on the thread about doing it yourself, which some of the more adept members here are quite capable of showing you how to achieve results in this ares.

For what it is worth.

We used to use Hove Camera Co for Leicas, their repairman Malcolm Taylor is in business for himself now, and has done my Leicas, but I don't think he does Nikon much, and he must be getting on a bit now! (Like me). I have taken the occasional lens apart, but haven't the tools or materials available now, which would likely cost more than having it done, and eyesight for such fine close work is an issue now. I thought a recommendation will be good, such things as good helical are getting few and far between now!

I used Fixation in London 5 years ago on my first ever MF Nikon lense, a 135/2.8
It was murky and had horrible sloppy focussing so it sat idle for many years until I found this thread.
Back then a check, clean, re-grease and focus check cost £55 +vat. They did a nice job. Probably the smoothest focussing lens I have. But at £77 all-in, including postage I could have bought a cleaner copy instead.
The other person that Steve alluded to is Sprockets (Phil Gilham) down Somerset way.
I did contact him by telephone to get some costs and IIRC it was cheaper than Fixation.
I did not use him since I decided to buy all the kit in order to do the job myself. I have yet to use it in anger since the £25 donor lenses I bought to practice on have become favourites of mine. 50/2 H and 50/2 HC
A place I bet Colin knows well, and has probably taken his family to a few times.
Interesting modern sculpture ..... but not as technically challenging as the Falkirk Wheel .... more of that later.
D810 + 25-50mm f4 Ai-s (not 105mm as shown)

Nikon on Nikon as you well know
I do know it well. I used to take my father there since it was a nice round-trip day out - a spot of lunch at the Falkirk wheel and then a drive home back through the Trossachs.
Each time I have planned to go to the Kelpies at night the weather didn't work out. One day....

Thanks both, Sprockets seems to be out of business as far as I can see on the web, Fixation is part of WEX and Calumet, I'll see what can be done.
The NHS have their hands full over there. Around 1/5 the pop of the US and fast approaching 1/2 the number of daily cases. France is even worse. Not looking good.
Thank you, Phong. I must admit the Df is way more camera than my capabilities allow. I'm just drawn to it because the combination with the FMNG is such a joy to use. I feel more at home on DX.
