Rafael, if Nikon had developed this prototype further, there might actually have been an LTM Nikon for you to attach the 10.5 lens to..
I am enjoying my LTM lenses adapted to my X-Pro2. The reduced flange distance over F mount makes them much more enjoyable adapted. True it is 1.5x crop, but still maintains the classic rendering. My $.02 Who knows, may be a Leica in the future.
I'll echo Leighton's comment Steward, that is a generous offer. Anyone who wants to play with a longer zoom lens from Nikon should give this one a shot. Only a few of us are fixated on what a lens looks like...
Happy shooting everyone. I'm off to furniture shopping with Sue.

Don´t seem to be able to open the album. Not on the phone nor on the computer, perhaps something wrong with my line..or is it flickr..
I tried opening the link. An oddball dot snuck in the link Leighton posted
Leighton, I never really found much love for the 80-200 f4,5 either, but the 80-200 f4 Ai-S, to me, is a completely different story, and I can't praise the lens enough.
The rendering reminds me of the 135mm f3,5 Nikkor-Q.C or the 200mm f4 Nikkor-Q.C. Sharpness is excellent, but the most useful feature is the 1,2m MfD.
Here are two photos that display the qualities I like in this lens most obvious
This one is close to 80mm, wide open and at medium distance
Leighton, the link worked out at last, nice shots. I really like how you have organized your flickr page. The lens seems pretty good, and I've been reading a bit... Some people seem to love it while some others not so much.
Curtis, you seem happy with it and shows its capacity. Well, I'll go to the shop tomorrow and try to bargain a bit. He wants about 85USD for it and it's in a really good shape. And it has the square baffle as well...
Steward, that is very kind of you, I would have taken your offer, if it wasnt for the time to ship it. Someone else might be interested
Buddy, the ais version seems very good and have been praised many times. Your shots proves this! Well, lets see what tomorrow brings....
As always, pure pleasure to find all info I need right here. Thanks guys!

Hope it finds a good home! I had two at one point but sold one off. Haven't dusted mine off in a very long time. We'll see what comes out of the trunk as I'm traveling.

I have a 80-200/4.5 AIn to give away. Glass is good but outside looks ugly. Anyone want it just pay the shipping cost

Nice examples Buddy. This lens does have a different look in the OOF areas.
The transition from In Focus to OoF is one of the main things I find pleasant about the Ai-S lens, as well as the Oof rendering and the fact that even the sharp areas suggest a gentle softness, yet are fully sharp. Sharpness is almost on par with the 200 f4 Nikkor-Q.C, both lenses used wide open.
If I had to explain it in laymens terms, I would point out that one thing I dislike in many zooms in this range is how they would render the image of Amy in front of the puddle. With most lenses I tried, the sand in the foreground and background would display harsh circles, like the bokeh madness the 85mm f1,8 Nikkor-H can produce, but smaller in scale. With the 80-200 f4 Ai-S however, these transition areas are rendered completely smooth. In some cases I like the kind of crazy rendering the 85 f1,8 and 24mm f2 can produce, but it is nice to have a lens in my bag that does these things differently
So at the end of last night's concert, I switched from the V1 to the D3 that had the 85 f/1.4 AI-s mounted on it. I also mounted the 16mm f/3.5 for a quick shot of the instruments. During the performance, I didn't want the D3 to detract from the music being played. These unusual instruments are hand made.
Although I don't have the kit to participate in this thread, I follow it keenly. I notice my compatriot Peter(from Knysna) has been missing for a bit. Just thought I'd let his friends know if you don't already, Knysna and sorrounds was devastated by a fire last week. Hoping all is well with him and his loved ones.
Very nice! That is the same lens I just got this week. I think it handles nicely on the X-Pro2 despite being heavy. I got tied up on a couple video projects this weekend and did not get a chance to post a picture of it mounted. Will try to do that tomorrow. Getting late here and going to call it a night.
