George - beautiful set up. What's happening with your Z6?
But boy do I hate this thread - I'm already looking to re-buy a 50mm f2 with an LTM adapter and I've been here less than a week. Sheesh, this place is bad!
Leighton - ha ha no, he wasn't posing. I think he was about to chase me away. I lurked there for so long trying to find focus, I'm not used to doing it manually anymore, I think he was getting worried.
So here is my brand new guitar. I built the body but not the neck. Neck was also new without tuners and screw holes. Still very new to this but I am happy how everything fits nicely and it makes sound
First one was taken with 85mm f1.8 H.C. The last two were taken with a 28mm f2.8 AIS.

Ben
Just not shooting it so I got out of the Z system for now (qualifying for now). Don't get me wrong, the Z lenses were great. Clinical edge to edge. But I think it came down to the FTZ and the old lenses. Just never inspired me. That and the fact I am shooting Leica bodies 90% of the time
I think the deciding factor was shooting my son's college graduation photos. I shot about 60% of them with Z lenses (50 1.8 and the 24-70 f/2.8) and the other 40% was split between the Noct and the 85 f1.4 AIS. I then told my wife and son to pick out the ones they wanted to print for the wall and to send with announcements. None of the ones they picked were taken with the Z lenses.
So now I have my camera hobby fund restocked. I think a Df is back in my future just for the non-AI lenses.

I shouldn't have been shopping for a Df but... You can take it off my mind by picking this beauty up.
I'm taking my Df to a camera technician... as soon as I hear back from him. I think those folks who suggested the camera wasn't stopping down with shutter release are accurate. Shooting wide open there's no problem with metering... stopping down initiates the Auto ISO and when the blades don't close everything is overexposed. Hopefully it is a minor mechanical issue but I'll only know once the camera is checked out.
I haven't quite gotten around to taking my D700 for a spin. But I'll get there eventually. I'm definitely enjoying all the great photos being posted, as well as the banter. The thread is cruising along.
And Leighton, Sue and I went to the big farmers' market in San Rafael on Sunday and though there are many more vendors and folks are actually walking through the market, all sales are done with employees pulling the produce, putting it in boxes that are set aside so we can load our own bags. Sue bought 35 organic cucumbers for a buck a piece... some huge. She also bought nine bunches of organic celery... 3 bunches for $5. The line to get to that vendor, our favorite was about thirty people long... each six feet from his or her neighbor. We'll likely go back next Sunday. We're delighted the farmers are bringing their beautiful produce to the market. I'm sure you're shoppers feels the same way.
^^^^^^^
If you look at the serial # It is not a US market camera
I believe the region is either Canada or Australia
Some people don't care but wanted to bring that to attention
Thanks Reagan. That would normally be a concern but truth be told I'm really not in the market. I wonder if that will matter in the future given this camera is not being upgraded? I guess time will tell.
I just found this on photosynthesis.co.nz... a camera serial number registry. This camera has a Canadian serial number... mmm
Hey Ben, I happen to know where you might get your hands on an 85 f/1.8 HC Auto...

Make a low offer for it since it's a Canada serial number, you'll get the Roberts' warranty on it anyhow... and being used, Nikon USA won't have a warranty for it anyhow...
