No big deal I have seen the shuttle at least 10 times from my parents old house in Cocoa and at the beach

Don't let Ken con you Reagan... his Social Security is limited because those in Federal employment don't receive it... that must have come from his moonlighting. But that Civil Service Retirement System he enjoys is much like the California Public Employees Retirement System. CSRS was discontinued in 1987 because someone decided it was too generous but old duffers like Ken were certainly covered. CPERS is still remarkably generous but only for employees who stick around long enough. Had I continued to work another ten years I'd be on easy street... probably quite near where Ken lives...
I'm amazed your employer didn't offer a retirement plan. You'd better keep your wife working...
And congratulations on your D750. I saw a couple pass through the Buy and Sell board but didn't note your presence on any of the threads. Hope you enjoy it this time around. We're all rooting for you...
Curtis you have it “partially” right! Yes my retirement comes from military and that time earned thru CSRS. I also paid full FICA from 1965 to 1997. In other words I paid the full FICA for 32 years and get 0 in return. In 1983 the SS Windfall was passed after 18 years of service and there was nothing I and a million or so others could do. As you can maybe tell ... it is a raw nerve.
After I retired I taught diving. Particularly deep diving, cave and wreck diving using SCUBA and closed circuit rebreathers using mixed gases. I taught instructors how to teach other people how to instruct. After 9/11 I was employed by a major university to teach in cooperation and coordination with the DoD first responders underwater techniques to be used domestically in the GWOT.
I’m doing well and thank God every day for my health and happiness.
You have got to try the old Nikkor Leica thread mount lenses. Perfect match. But if you go down that rabbit hole like I did, don't skimp on the LTM/M adapters.
Couple of pics from my wandering around with the FE2 & 35/2 Ai-S. Portra 400 scanned on a Nikon V-ED using NegativeLabPro which I'm really loving now. Can even embed exif details via NLP

Downloading and trying NLP is on my short list of things to do soon. Going to try and take advantage of the upcoming good weather the next few days to shoot something so I can scan
Really nice work folks, and diverse pictures too. As always the reading is entertaining to say the least. For tonight just using the like button to express appreciation.

Wild Black Raspberries will be ready for picking soon.
Growing next to an old barn. Shot with 5cm f/2 LTM Nikkor with yellow filter.
Hopefully will be picking some next Friday.

Love the contrast between light and shadow. I can't get over how well those old LTM's do on a modern digital camera. Sure, most of it comes from the experience of the photographer, but still...
