While Chris can shoot fields containing millions of tulips I am limited the few dozen that reside in my garden. Another glorious, sunny day.
....
Back to the woods this evening but instead of two feet went with two wheels. Not as fast as Ram's bikes, but I am not in a hurry to get anywhere. The front bag is perfect for a small camera kit.
No fancy post processing lens flare in this, just pure old lens imperfections
I honestly can't look at a glass like that without pondering the question... what is that amber liquid?
The thread is moving along. It is always a delight when a prodigal son returns. Welcome Ram. Since shooting close will always give you something to capture, why not throw an extension tube on one of your lenses and give us a closeup from one of your motorcycles? You're got time on your hands, right?

I have a lot of pages to catch up on due to the fact that I got hit with an illness that started ~3 weeks ago.
My Doctor said it was Covid-19 but given I was not admitted to hospital I have not been formally tested. The testing strategy/capacity in the UK is a joke. Ideally I'd like to have an anti-body test but.......
I had all of the usual symptoms. I felt rough one day and then it hit hard, really hard. I shut the lid on my company laptop at 6pm, went to bed and woke up 22 hours later. That was the first of 10 days in bed, unable to function, living in some kind of fevered, zombie state where even going to the bathroom was a physical challenge. Really weird. Worst 2 weeks I can ever remember. There were a couple of times I just wanted it all to end. Hard to explain. Dropped my weight from 76kg to 71kg in the process.
The good news is that I am beginning to feel human again and went back to work this week(from home of course). Fatigue is still an issue so I have to pace myself. Climbing the stairs in my house leaves me breathless. I ventured outside into the sunshine yesterday and even bending down and holding a position to take this 55/2.8 macro left me gasping for air.
Hopefully I will have the enthusiasm to use the camera again over this holiday weekend.

Stalked one of my cats around the garden with the 180/2.8 for an hour or so.
The outdoors is new to her so everything is exciting.
She didn't stay still long enough so nailing focus was an issue. Got a couple of keepers though.
Autumn is here and with it the first hints of winter. The Cape has had its first storm and while we're about 325 miles to the East we had gale force winds here on Wednesday. Not too much of a problem as our lockdown has been extended to May 1 with no walking and only essential shopping allowed. Shops limit entrance to 50 at a time and lines are pretty disciplined, sanitiser on entry and exit. Masks de rigeur.
Limited to the garden I've followed Curtis' example and played with some close ups. This is a Dusty Miller leaf processed using SilverEfex - first seen on this thread a bout 10 years ago and used masterfully by Curtis.
Happy Easter, everyone and let's keep our chins up.

Thanks Rafael. That blue one is not mine but I do have a blue bike of the same Koga Myata brand (made in Holland using a Japanese Myata frame and Shimano parts). My bike which is about 25 years old has the same classic (with lugs) frame made of Reynolds steel. These frames are famous for offering a very good combination of light weight, sturdiness and comfort. When I was younger I used to ride a lot, also abroad especially in the hills and mountains of Spain. Happy memories ... Being Dutch I still have a few bicycles, it used to be five now reduced to three ...Show more →
As a result of this trip to memory lane I dug out my somewhat neglected Koga-Miyata (correct spelling now), cleaned/oiled/polished it and took it for a spin looking for a colourful Dutch backdrop. This bike has a classic lugged oval steel frame from Reynolds FM-1 chromium-molybdenum triple-butted steel made by Japanese firm Miyata and used by top Dutch bike builder Koga. Stable and comfortable. They don't make them like this anymore. Image shot with a Nikon Z6 + Nikkor 105mm f2.5 AIs.
