Nice bokeh, this lens seems to not need much PP.
f1.2 is sooo thin, though, I forget if this was at 1.2, I don't think it was, seems 1.2 was TOO thin for this quick test.
Gotta write notes...

Do any of these cause mirror problems on a 5DMKii?
I can deal with occasional mirror hangs after exposure when the mirror returns, I guess that is okay.
But mirror crashes when going up, would be a bad thing.

I have a 58 1.2 .. It doesn't clear the mirror on my 5DII starting at a tick past 5 on the focus ring.. crashes going up.. It also doesn't clear the mirror on my 1DMkIV at around 10 on the focus ring.. It crashes going up here too.

so I filed down the rear of the lens like a few websites suggest and it now fully clears my 1dmkIV all the way to infinity.. not a problem at all.. The 5DII clears it now as well to infinity but at infinity the shutter sound is slightly different almost like it is touching it on the way down.. However the picture and nothing seems affected..

Of course if you don't want to do any filing, live view works 100% with this lens on the 5DII .. i think it's more effective to manual focus using live view anyways.

luka, that last shot is fantastic. are these shots a consequence of your m9 being out for repairs?

Thanks sebboh

Yeah, pretty much. I went out shooting with assorted glass today, first with the 70-200, but that was really awful on so many levels. The Rokkor on the other hand was fun.

The M9 is great in many ways but one thing I miss is the ability to do closeups. The closest you get with the rangefinder is 0.7 meters and none of the lenses I have produce really good or interesting bokeh at MFD.

yeah, that's the big reason i'm not one of the people demanding rangefinders and optical viewfinders in ILCs. i just want a good evf and close focus lenses.

Sebboh, that second shot is amazing. You know JUST how to work those specular highlights in bokeh.

Do you have any pictures of the work you did? my PG version hangs on my 1DIII.

Sebboh, great stuff, yeah I've hardly used my ROKKOR this winter, been using other lenses to get better acquainted with them, it will have it's turn again.

That last shot almost looks like a TS image. It is a perfect example of why I bought mine.

Freaky White Moth:
Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2 with Minolta Close Up Lens, this was stopped all the way down, f16.
Thought it was a cocoon, was going to keep it for my niece, and then we could see what hatched.
However, turning the leaf over, it was this white moth.

I love how this lens requires minimal PP, nothing I normally do is needed, heh, nor works!
Just have to adjust noise and sharpening, love it.
Truely my best bokeh monster!
