Anyone know a good source for a replacement focus ring grip for the Rokkor 58/1.2? Mine has been loose for a few years, but now it's so loose I can easily slip it on and off the lens.

nope, maybe just use gaffer tape instead? what's the diameter?

Haven't measured it yet. Gaffer's tape was plan A, but then I realized I'm out of gaffer's tape, so I thought I'd see if someone had run into the same problem and found a better solution.

if you want something rubbery, you might be able to fine some shelf liner type stuff that is similar to the original. i'm pretty sure the diameter is too big to borrow the grip from a lesser rokkor.

It's 67.9mm without the grip, and the smallest piece of DIY grip I could find on the bay was 7cm, which is about the same diameter as the Rokker's current grip. I wonder if I can just get a thick black rubber band in the right dimensions. I'll check out the shelf liners, too.

Silicone bracelets are typically about 2.5" in diameter, which would make for a snug (hopefully not too snug) fit. Now I feel stupid about turning down all the free ones I've been offered over the years.

How many of those beautiful 55s have you massacred so far?
Looks good.
they're not butchered, they're totally able to be brought back to their original form (though some had bad optics or damaged front filters when i got them). i have the optics for 4 sitting on my shelf here in case something happens to my dad's old one that i shoot with: http://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4294/35602057720_469f4981d4_o.jpg
