Recently I've started to get into Minolta lens. Just got a 35MC version not too long ago.
Now i'm looking to get a 85mm or 135mm. These lenses are cheap and good!
My question is which one to get? It seems the 85mm f1.7 or f2 is more expensive compared to the 135mm?
Also for the 135mm f2.8 with 4 blades seems the way to go? Anyone can chip in into this?
I'm trying to find one in eBay but its pretty hard, what should i put for the keyword?
Many thanks!
all the versions of the 135/2.8 are pretty good, i've heard the later 4 element version is a bit sharper and certainly lighter weight, but i doubt it makes that much difference iq wise.
there are no cheap minolta 85mm lenses unfortunately. i find 85mm to be a much more useful focal length. i really like the 85/1.7, but it's not 5x as good as the price might suggest, it's just a different kind of lens.
the 85/2 i don't have any experience with, but haven't been super impressed with the images i've seen.

Thanks for the reply Sebboh! I appreciate it.
Do you have any good recommendation for a cheap 85mm? Many thanks!

the best cheap 85mm is probably the samyang/rokinon/bower/etc 85/1.4. they can be found in the $200-$250 range and have good sharpness from wide open and very smooth bokeh. the main weaknesses are loCA and that stopped down performance isn't quite as good as some others.
there are also a number of 85/1.8s from various manufacturers that can be found a little cheaper and are all pretty decent performers. not really sure why the rokkor 85s are so much more expensive when rokkors are usually cheaper on average at other focal lengths.
