Rokkor 250mm f5.6 mirror lens on Sony A7r
I didn't consciously choose to take this shot with this lens, it wouldn't have seemed to be the most obvious choice, but it happened to be on the end of the camera and I quite like the result. Using a 250mm lens also helped avoid the camera getting covered in salt spray.
Thanks Sebboh!
i am looking pretty hard at the 28mm f2 wanting to pick one up. how do you like the lens? i have the Contax 28 f2 and the Nikkor Ais 28mm f2. Of course the Contax is amazing but I hope to find something with a better performance than the Nikkor and i really like minolta's colors. How's the wide open sharpness and edge performance on the Rokkor?

i'm quite happy with the MD 28/2. it's got a little bit of SA wide open but is still sharp out to the edges. by f/4 the corners are pretty good and by f/8 even the extreme most corner is quite sharp. there is a little bit of midzone dip/ripple field curvature, but it's not bad. there is also a little CA, but again not bad. i also have the 55mm filter thread MD W version, which isn't as sharp in the extreme corners, is bigger, and has a rotating filter thread. the 55mm filter thread version might have better bokeh in some situations though.
I had the MC 28 f/2 as well and I thought it was a very nice lens. Fairly susceptible to flare, but very nice colours and nicely sharp across the frame stopped down. Here are some of my favourites with it.
thanks guys! the chickadees were unusually cooperative yesterday. seems the rain made them slower to hop from one perch to another. i always try to include more of the environment than the typical bird photo too.
thanks! that is a pretty amazing capture of the golden crest. i miss the aggravation of chasing their american cousins – i seldom see them since moving to SF though.
Currently have:
MD 16/2.8 Fisheye
MC 24/2.8
MC 28/2.5
MD 28/2.8
MC 28/3.5
MD 28/3.5 (49mm)
MC 35/1.8
MD 35/2.8
MC 50/1.4
MC 50/1.7
MD 100/2.5
MC 135/2.8
MD 35-70/3.5 Macro
My fav's are the MD 16mm fisheye, MC 28/2.5, MC 50/1.4 and MD 35-70/3.5 Macro
Still looking for an affordable 58/1.2, 85/1.7 and the MD 70-210
Hi guys, I've been looking at getting into some legacy lenses, and have the opportunity to buy this Rokkor MD 50mm 1.4 at the moment. Of course I've read through the rokkorfiles site, but I'm a bit confused on how to tell which incarnation it is or even how to tell if the lens is in good quality based on the photos, because the seller doesn't seem to know much about that sort of stuff.
Do you think this would be a good buy for me? Is that yellow haze normal? I just want a fast normal lens with creamy bokeh, though sharpness still matters. It's hard to find other lenses like 58mm or MC series for sale in Australia under $100.
This lens carries numerous traces of unprofessional repair, especially in the front. If someone treated it so badly the question rises what can be found inside. So, you'd better not buy it.
For AUD 100,with some patience, you can easily get this, or a similar Minolta MD/Rokkor 50 / 1.4 lens in perfect conditio on e-bay.
As for the lens model - the MD Rokkor 50 / 1.4 is a very good performer, with 7 lenses in 5 groups, just as the Rokkor 50 / 1.4 MC PG, but with improved coatings and a little bit more vivid colors/enhanced contrast.
