OK, let's take a hike. We will call it "CIrc Hop" and here's chapter 1
Trailhead

Note the hump into which the road runs. We'll call that Railroad Mtn, we will climb that first thing. We look due west. We are at 10,300 ft. This is the highest open road in the state.
At the base of the little climb, we look south to a big shoulder of RR Mtn.

Now we made it up RR mtn and look north:

3k ft below is Crater Lake, and on the left the "China Wall" as it has been known for over 100 years.

Now the view to the south, forgive the photo but it shows where we are going:

Note big rocky ridge in the right frame, which goes to the edge. Let's call that "Sheep Ridge", and it divides Gunsight Circ from Sheep circ. We'll descend and cross under Sheep Ridge to reach Sheep Lake (behind the ridge) and beyond, and we will see that ridge from multiple angles.

RR Mtn on left of frame, the south shoulder on right. Here begins our Loop, and we will have to climb back up that to get to the car at the end of the day.

Next chapter we will work our way around the corner, under sheep ridge, to Sheep Lake Circ, and over another divide to our final, Saphire Circ. And be back at the truck for supper right?
Gear note, pack is a Deuter Speedlight 30, shoes Five Ten Camp Four, 2 litre water bladder and filter, and enough clothes to survive overnight if need be. Also SPOT transceiver, in case I need a helicopter Oh, and one trekking pole.
