Great stuff guys! Glad to see we hit 1000 pages. Can't wait to see the next 1000!
Luka - hope you're well. Thanks for the retrospective! There were a few new ones in there I hadn't seen... maybe due to travel absences, etc.
Nico - thanks for the kind words. As I think I wrote in one of my blog posts, had that Voigtlander 21/1.8 existed when I got into Leica at the end of 2010 and before I started buying Leica glass in later 2011, I probably would have gotten it first and maybe just stuck with it for everything, because it really is a great all-rounder. The 21 SEM is great though. Sounds like, as you said, there might be some QC concerns. I recall trying a 28 Cron at the Leica store in Munich and not being wowed by it, then trying a demo they were also selling and thinking it looked a lot better...
I'll catch up on commenting later, as I just arrived in Dallas...
What QC issues are people facing with the 21SEM currently?
Sold mine off a week ago to buy a 21 Summilux (decided to sell first, because if I bought the 21lux, I might not sell the SEM). BUT when I tested a few 21Lux lenses (4) at several different Leica stores the performance was terrible (guessing QC issues). I don't wanna deal with Germany right now, as I'm about to fly off to LA and want a 21mm lens. So I've decided to just buy back the 21SEM since I can get one new (imported) at cheaper then what I just sold mine for
Anyway, just wanted to check if there were known QC issues, as a few of you have talked about them in the past. I want to know what to look out for (other then the obvious sharpness).
Just to add to that, my original 21SEM was perfect, no issues.
EDIT: Just went for another 21SEM. Price to good to resist
Doesn't seem to have issues, but was kinda bad area/light to be testing the lens. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and add comment if I notice problems. It's definitely not going to be as bad as the 21LUX lenses I was testing (shame, hope it doesn't deter me from one for too long).
Adam, we need to see you standing with your work at the exhibit! What if I showed up ... I wouldn't know who you were!!!
We had a haircut today, so I felt the need to bust out the studio stuff. Used a mix of lighting and went for a warm processing look. All with the 50 LUX asph.
