Salgado's work is superb. Was this body of work shot with Leica? I know in the past he mostly used M bodies and perhaps an R body but am unsure of what he uses now. In the end, I suppose it doesn't matter as his work is exceptional.

For the Genesis project he started with medium format film and later moved to a Canon 1Ds III

Ron, I agree that each camera maker has a different idea about iso sensitivity. My Sekonic really matched my Canon DSLR, but I stopped using it when I switched to Sony. Sony iso is about 2/3 to 1 full stop below the meter readings. With Leica things are closer to normal, with perhaps just 1/3 or less under. However, with the M9 I had to shoot with the histogram and underexpose in order to protect highlights due to the limited DR so again the incident readings were not very suitable. With the M240 I find the incident readings give a very balanced exposure with very minimal clipping at both ends of the histogram, and the strange thing is that when thus exposed, the images have a much improved AWB and almost no need to dial up contrast.

I went to the Koudelka exhibit at the Art Institute Chicago yesterday. It was incredible (HUGE). Also swung by and checked out Magritte WOW... And I think Steichen opens on the 26th of June.

It's obvious Salgado is as gear obsessed> much more so> than the rest of us. But there's a certain ceiling, above which any mention of lens, aperture, speed, is considered a grubby distraction

On my last outing, besides the 135, I had my biogon:
Here she is in battlefield attire:

L1015194 by unoh7, zm 35/2 f/4

what can I say, I'm a sucker for a good pluton:

L1015200 by unoh7, zm 35/2 f/5/.6

L1015337 by unoh7, zm 35/2 f/8

I'm growing very attached to this lens.

that link includes a long interview with him.

Good job everyone, as always. On Saturday while driving around LA looking for something interesting, I find a group of photographers at the lotus garden. This is at Echo Park near downtown LA where the city spent millions to rehab the lake and park. This area has been in many movies and has been changing for the better. They had all the gear, telephoto lens, tripod and large backpacks. I just had my Leica M with a 50mm Lux and 90mm Elmarit.

Hi Phil, I first saw your beautiful photo of the woman and the seascape on the LA Leica Store Facebook page. I am glad you have joined us. One day when you have all day begin on page 1(4 years ago) and get to know the great folk on this thread and samples from all the Leica digital equipment. Seeing the great work by these photographers convince me to join the club. Your use of the Monochrome makes a strong case for that beautiful piece of equipment. I am still thinking of obtaining a Leica film camera.
By the way, notice my image, I think you took that photo in front of the Fake Leica.

uhoh7 - lovely set of 135 shots. I like the 2nd shot the one with the mountains in the background. I love the battle gear on the biogon. Yes it is a lens one becomes attached to.
joakim - the 1st shot in your 2nd set caught interesting facial gestures
Allen - like how you captured the symmetry
Salvaz - Love shots of LA. The flowers at the end is my fav.
jojo - interesting art work you captured and love the tones.

Yesterday I went to the camerastore to pick up a couple more lenses for IR work. Picked up the 25 ZM and 50 ZM Planar. Found some IR contamination after further testing today I found if I used a different filter things were okay.

Not many B&W shots yesterday but I did find a bench to shoot in Fish Creek Provincial Park. I like taking pictures of park benches and bridges. Happy Trails

Lot a talking (from me), not a lot of posting. Something from a session in L.A.

M240 + 50 Noctilux @ 0.95

(Again, doesn't seem sharp once resized and uploaded, oh well, just imagine I hit focus.)

Adam - beautiful portrait.
burningheart - great name, I also love benches. When I showed my elderly aunt this photo she told me that she has spent a lot of time sitting on that bench.

Adam - the joys of resizing but one many are familiar with. Terrific portrait
Salvaz - Lovely benches, in the 1st the green is a nice contrast to the red brick and in the 2nd awesome pink benches nice change from the usual colors we see.
