To be honest, I am not very comfortable with the direction Leica has been taking recently.
The M system is for traditionalists and I think they should keep it this way.
They can make a new system for progressive tech oriented people, which currently is the T and the system may expand in the future to include FF bodies and lenses.
I confess for being a dinosaur but the M system is also a dinosaur dating back to 1954 and that's the whole point
Agree with you about the M. But I don't think wifi needs it's own button
EDIT: Or rather let's hope wifi doesn't get it's own button.
Edward, I agree here too If the M240 had a fast processor that worked seamlessly with the EVF and different SD cards, I think most of us would not give a second thought. I really love the simplicity of the M240, and it is almost there
I brought my new CV 15/4.5 out with me today hoping to find something to shoot, but it spent most of the time in the bag because I didn't see anything that I thought would benefit from an ultra-wide. This reminded me of why I sold of my Canon 16-35 a few years ago -- I just don't see much past 24mm in my daily life, and it only gets used for special occasions (weddings, vacations, etc).
Anyways, finally at the end of the day I got one shot that I am satisfied with:
Me and my family have been coming to this place to eat often for several years. Things have changed so much - for one, there were usually more people. Today it was totally empty except us, and when we left, only 3 other tables were occupied. This place, like several other eateries around the same block, seem to be having a tough time as more restaurants started opening nearby and less and less people came.
I have a gut feeling if things continue as they are, this place may not remain here for long, which is sad because I like some of the items they have on their menu. Coincidentally, one camera store just closed the branch that I frequent nearly every weekend, and it was the same thing -- I notice less and less people until one day, it was mostly just me chatting with the store clerk about the latest camera news and rumors. Sad times.
Nice shot Adrian and the CV 15 looks to be sharp across the frame. Like you I don't really like anything wider than 24mm, that is why I sold my Zeiss 18 last year, keeping the 25 as my widest lens, which doesn't see much use either.
Volunteers gathered at the flagpole of Riverside National Cemetery to read the list of more than 5,000 veterans buried there since June 1, 2013
It was an honor to be part of it, this series was made for them. Let us never forget the widows, children of the fallen, and the veterans of the past and future
Charles I to want a good sensor with great low light capabilities but I don't want or need the stuff that you can get on all the other cameras out there. The MM was truly a unique camera. I would love to see an all manual M and I'm sure I'm not alone. I think Leica should keep making products that you can't get other places for cheaper. Why compete in that arena when it's already saturated. Sales of the big two have been falling. Leica M stayed with manual focus lenses when the big two went to auto focus a long time ago which I am grateful for.
Edward, really nice set!
Adrian, I agree with Edward, that the WA's are very difficult to compose with. Ron, truly has the skill with WA's, and I would not venture in the streets with anything less 28mm. I find it very difficult in Bangkok, because the colors are so varied, and it is very hard to compose images and trying to exclude extraneous details.
Philip, excellent series of a very special commemoration.

Great set!!! I truly love your work with the MM and 35 Lux FLE. It is simple, elegant and produce amazing shots, like no other camera in the market. I look back at some of my images with the MM, and still amazed at the depth of tonality, and I do regret selling it now!!
I agree the MM is and will be legendary, and having the RF mechanism of the M9, it is quick to re calibrate locally. I think there is a place for both manual M, and an elegantly designed electronic version.
Thanks Charles and I certainly hope that Leica comes out with an M-E with the new sensor or better yet a digital MP but with the new MM rumors reporting wifi I mean REALLY Leica?
The chrome 28 lux looks interesting and would be a consideration if I didn't have the 35.
Edward - I like the personal space invasion on the first candid.. Very close, nice!
jojomon11 - Neat, what were the speeches for? Survivors, widows, widowers?
airfrogusmc - Fantastic street scenes
atwl77 - My favorite places close down all the time, turnover in Singapore is so high, due to people always wanting to try something new. The widest I'd consider going is 21, but 35mm is where I'm comfortable for work purposes. 50 is my ideal on a Leica.
Phil, outstanding 1st set.
Allen, your work is so good, I'm running out of superlatives. My favorite is the lady with the arrow pointing at her head.
Hemirott, very cute, and the drawing style of the lux is just exquisite.
I understand Leica, looking for new customers out there by introducing new lines of cameras and system, but I only hope they keep on producing and supporting the M system, keeping it with the personality and simplicity it always had. New technology with traditional taste.
Some shots from HK w/50APO and 35FLE. All should be wide open except a shot I took from the roof of a building overlooking other buildings, that was with the FLE @ 5.6 I think.
(first shot and last four with 35FLE, rest APO, again not 100% on this)
