Yeah, it seems that both chimping and/or shooting a few shots in succession can lead to banding, so, in low light, I'm trying not to shoot more than two shots back to back until the camera is done working.

I've really been liking the freedom of shooting at only ISO 160, as its like pushing film, but I'm able to push every pic instead of every roll. Granted, if you're a high volume shooter, you may not want to deal with a bunch of black pics in Lightroom that all need adjusting. You're right about highlights, Joe. I barely have to

Hi Douglas,

This ISO-less thing looks interesting. I may have missed it. Is there a discussion in more details on this approach in this thread? Will like to learn more. The obvious question for me is: so who do I set the exposure? Just under-exposed the shot? How much?

Thanks.

Allen, thank you! Beautiful Nikons in your shot. Brings back memories...
Gary, very nice! Love the 2nd shot!
Ryan, great lighting and tonality.
Wstam, the Biogon at its best. Love the 2nd shot. Great moment there.
As for the iso-lessness, it seems the M9 does not amplify the signal above base iso, just increases the brightness in the software, and ACR seems to do a slightly better job than the camera processor. So basically you just keep the iso at 160 but expose as if you are shooting at higher iso and compensate in ACR/LR.

Essentially, you treat it a little like using auto-ISO. Choose your shutter and aperture, and, rather than letting the camera choose your ISO, you push in the exposure after the fact. Of course, if you're in good light, you still have to worry about overexposure, and, in lowlight, you want to make sure that you don't need to push the exposure more than 5 stops, which is Lightroom 4's maximum. The more light that you get to the sensor (without out blowing out at ISO 160,) the better. You'll start to get a feel for it.

Thanks Ron and nice set with the tires!

Joakim, sorry to hear about your 28Cron focus issue. Hopefully it works out well after recalibration, or maybe you can exchange it for another copy since you bought it new at the store? I can't recall completely but there is supposedly a simple method to test the camera's rangefinder alignment to make sure that you are not having issues with the camera instead of the lenses. Basically take out a piece of A4 paper and draw a line approx 7cm across with a marker or pen. At both ends of the line, draw two dots larger than the thickness of the line. Put the paper on a wall a few feet away (I can't recall exact distance). Take the M9, focus the lens on the dots and at MFD and infinity with a lens mounted, the rangefinder window, both dots should come together as one, else it can signify camera RF out of alignment. Perhaps someone who has more accurate info on this method can chime in or confirm if it works or not?

Justinz7850, very nice street shot!
Edward, more excellent shots! I like the #2 composition with the tree, two men and the motorcycle, excellent. The two night shots are also really nice.
Gary, epic scenery! Beautiful shots!
Ryan, nice portraits!
Allen, cool shots of the Nikons!
wstam, very nice series from Melbourne. #1 is my favorite.

Edward, great series of shots!
Justin, very nice B&W shot in the streets!
Joe, excellent example of pushing the ISO with LR4. I am yet to try this Love the last set of shots! Excellent play of light and shadows
Ron, love those shots of the tyres! Beautiful warm lighting contrasting with the blue and black
Gary, lovely shots from Lake Louise
Ryan, stunning portrait shots!!! Great stuff.
Allen, cool Nikon shot.
wstam, nice Melbourne street captures.
Joakim, congrats on the 28 Cron Calibration can vary from M9's even though the master spec is correct. I have now calibrated both M9 and M9-P identically and is on file, so in future my lenses are tweaked to the original calibration. I would send the 50 Lux, M9 and 28 Cron and be very specific as to what you wish to be calibrated
Hilmar, congrats on the awesome 50 Cron Asph Great shots!!

Allen, The guy like holding two guns
Gary, Beautiful!
Justinz7850, Like the expression!
Edward, The night shots are excellent.
Ryan, nice portraits with 90AA! And the BW from 35cron has great composition.
wstam, very nice street captures from Melbourne.
Joe, A great set! I like the way you approach high DR. The shadow looks very interesting.
Hilmar, Congratulation! Looks for more Even the coating seems more beautiful with 50AA,

A photo from recent trip to FL. I haven’t have time go through them yet. I visited two cities: St Augustine, FL and Savannah, GA.

I pretty much only use two lens 21 biogon on M9 and 35cron on M3. I did use 50lux occasionally on M9 for low light. The experience reinforces my feeling about 2nd body better be something small with zoom like NEX7 or XE1 unless I can have three M bodys with 35 and 50 and 21/90. Changing lens is not good, especially in city for interesting field of view change quickly during walk around for short visit trip. One or two time is OK, but quickly you feel awkward to change back and forth or just pass it.

Here is one from Savannah:

Thanks for the comments regarding calibration and my new lens. I decided to only send in the two lenses that felt most important to fix, the 28 Summicron and the 35 Summilux and to leave the camera as it is for now. If it doesn't work out I guess I'll have to send in the M9 and 50 Lux as well as Charles suggested but lets hop it will work out.

Joe, thanks for the info on checking the camera. I tried to google on the subject but I haven't found anything (yet)

Edward, I like the one with the dog on p 629 and also the bike on the next page.
Gary, very nice photos from a place that looks fantastic.
Ryan, nice portraits and the b&w with the shadows is great.
Joe, very nice use of shadows. The last on is my favorite.
Hilmar, congratulations to the 50 AA. Looking forward to more photos.
Michael, I like the framing of that shot

Like Joe I searched my archive and found this one from last summer. 50 Lux.

Michael - looking forward to seeing more - I've always wanted to stop in Savannah.
HIlmar - I say keep them all! Looking forward to more! Hopefully Boris will also post some... But is that purple fringing along the edge of the snow in the photo of the Staatsoper?
Ryan - great composition and impact! Great tonality in those portraits too.
Joe - great shadow play in these images - love the blue shirt guy shot.
Edward, nice mood in these.
WeeSin - like the second one.
Allen - starting a Chicago edition of
Tokyo Camera Style? Nice find!
Gary - beautiful - you're so lucky to have such nice scenery nearby!
