Ash, very nice! Love the feel of #2. Lens?
Great couple series from the beach Charles! Good to see the 28 & 75 getting a workout.
Edwin - I like the cropped version and very fortuitous lighting on her face.
Cory, lovely change of pace from the usual.
Charles, two last sets are great. #2 in the first set is something special.
AshNZ, like others I really like the alley photo.
Ron, very nice light, #1 and #4 are my favorites.
seekuh, nice holiday photos. #4 has an intriguing composition.
Joakim - very beautiful and love the tonality!
Charles - hanging out at the beach to pick up some spontaneous freelance wedding work?
Hilmar - wow, great color! I'm jealous, it snowed a few more cm here..
Jonas - No way, when it comes to in demand M mount glass, if you find something you like/want/need at the right price, buy it! You can always resell at minimal loss later if you find another one at a good price in black.
Thanks guys! I too loved the winter light in the fourth image I posted above - just wish the foreground scene was more compelling.
Here's a revisit to a location in the woods that I think I posted maybe half a year ago...
50 Lux, 21 Lux, 50 Lux, all wide open.
Here are a couple of the same scene, the first with the CV 35 f/1.2 II, the second with the 50 Lux, both at f/1.4:
Ron, very moody set that I like with the third as my favorite. Interesting comparison between the CV 35 and the 50 Lux, I think the 35 stands up pretty well against the 50 Lux in this scenario.
Doug, Hilmar, Joakim and Ron, thank you Doug, yes some of the high rise buildings do have dirty windows
Jonas, I had a mixture of silver and black lenses, and seriously does not matter at all! The only issue is weight with the Leica where the brass adds substantially to the weight of the lens!
Hilmar, beautiful shots! Love the serenity of the last shot
Joakim, very classical looking shot! Very nice
Ron, excellent set! Yes very interesting comparison. The CV 35, does hold up very well! Favourite shot is #1! An interesting comparison would be with a CV 35 II and 35 Lux FLE.
Yes it would be an interesting comparison... maybe someday when it's possible to actually find a 35 Lux FLE at a reasonable price. And my finances have recovered!
One thing I noticed about the CV35 f/1.2 II from this outing was that if the hand coding doesn't catch, the lens actually exhibits more Lux-like wide open vignetting character (compared to my 50 Lux). With the coding it's quite even across the frame, perhaps too corrected when coded as the 35 Lux ASPH non-FLE, so maybe it has less natural vignetting than the 35 Lux? I'm contemplating shooting it uncoded, though would miss the exif.
Here's another one from the woods that day, CV35 f/1.2 II. For this one the coding didn't catch, so the vignetting is mostly natural:
Went out to test my M lenses on the GXR... after the formal test, which upon review now I will likely reshoot, I had both cameras out, but gravitated to the M9... 50mm and wider, I still think you can't beat a rangefinder for quick focusing. The one second the GXR locks up after each exposure is also bugging me...
Ron, very cool composition of the cans! Very nice
Great shots in the snow!! The 50 Lux definitely has its magic, but I love the 21 Lux too. There is something special in the shot with the GXR. I can also appreciate your feelings about the feel of the GXR. Having the NEX 5N, it can produce excellent IQ, but the ergonomics are not quite there yet IMO.
I'm getting a better feel for the Luxes and finding that they share some common traits, such as a gentler rendering wide open. Stopping down a stop or so then kicks in a higher degree of sharpness/micro contrast. And the vignetting each has wide open, especially the 21 Lux, really adds to their character, which of course is stripped away when used on APS-C.
And I'm having mixed feelings about the Luxes on the GXR. Some of that magic is no longer present. But I think it's also due to the way the lenses lose resolving power towards the edges. It's not steady and gradual, rather there is a pretty big dip in the 'B zone' then some recovery towards the edges. On FF the B zone dip isn't as noticeable, but on APS-C it falls right about at the edge of the frame and at wider apertures results in some rather poor sharpness, especially if the subject is fairly detailed and planar. At least for the 50, I think I'm leaning more towards the ZM50 Planar for use on the GXR.
A tree I've posted before... liked the light on it at dusk today:

AshNZ - I really like your photos, especially #2&3.
I wish you'd let us know what camera and lenses you're using for them.
Thanks Jeff. I have updated the original post with the information. All M8 and 50 Lux ASPH.

Some stuff around the neighbourhood:
All with the 50 Lux ASPH
Thanks! The 50 Lux is so good at melting away that background...
Great lighting in your shots here Ron. Also I really like the 'GXR with the 90 Summarit' shot.

Ash, love the second shot! Very nice set
Ron, wow... superb shots! Beautiful lighting
Shots this afternoon all with the 75 Lux
Thank you Charles. With all the lovely beach photos you post one would think you had no time for work. Your photos always remind me what I am missing out on being away from Australia...
Thank you. And I'm loving shots 4 and 5 - beautiful part of the world!

Thanks. I have to say I am surprised, I just threw these 3 photos in as an after thought and the response for no 2 was more than I was expecting! What is it about this shot? Is it mostly because it shows the 50 Lux's capability? Personally, I think the shot is 'nice' but nothing more. Always interesting to canvas a broader opinion though
Silken, the last shot on the sled is great. It makes me cold just looking at it
