Thanks guys - that is really nice to hear. It was my first real chance to play with the M8. I shot 98% of the 800 or so images at 160/320 ISO, perhaps I will venture more into 640 ISO next time. I really struggled to focus some of those night shots, but I guess it will come with practice. My PP leaves a little to be desired but I am slowly trying to figure out LR3. I don't know if it is the same for you folks, but I had a lot of people comment on the camera - even though people around me had very nice DSLR's left right and center!
I am loving the 24 Lux, Superpendous! Yes, a new word for it! .
I've had a lot of comments a bout the clarity, detail, color. It's amazed me honestly, it makes me feel less bad about selling my 28mm 1.4 for my Nikon. As Ash knows, since he bought it, it's not an easily replaced lens for it's image quality.
now the 58 noct I had, only one thing will replace that, we won't talk about it at over 10 grand. Forgetaboutit. The lux wouldn't be bad though. Maybe.
Ash, really nice series from NYC! Getting the focus is just practice and making sure the lens and body are well calibrated. I love using the M9's in the street, as most think it is an old film camera, and ones who recognise the M9, makes for very interesting discussions. Best programs to PP are C1 Pro and LR/CS5. For low light stuff, definitely ACR engine in Lr/CS5, as there are great techniques to use for noise reduction. Overall I prefer C1 Pro, as the colours and details are quite different out of C1.
Doug, with you about the 24 Lux
Gary, very nice shots! The ZM 50P is a brilliant lens
I own the 50mm and 100mm ZF Makro Planers for my Nikon kit, fine lenses. a 21 and 35mm round out my Zeiss Nikon collection. Someday I will own something for M maybe. But I am partial to Leica glass when I have a spare kidney.
The 50 lux is my next lust I think. I did want the 35 lux, but I think the 50 will serve me well, along with 35 cron.
I added instructions on how to retain frames from Silver Efex 2 in CS5 over in the retouching section. Some say it's a little convoluted. But if you want to add them back to LR3 catalog, the method works, even if it does take a few minutes of your time.
I was told that color Efex Pro 4 has frames included, but the overlay part of your image.
Since I flipped the page over, must add image. 24 lux/m9
Like the Summilux 24, too. Must share another picture of today which is the result of my first "stroll" with the softbox. Was quite windy and it fell down once. I didn't give up though. I know the result is not stellar since I still have to learn how to use it but I dare to share it with you nonetheless.
Self portrait with Leica M9, Summilux 24, softbox from camera right.
Guess why I'm leaning against the wall. - I needed a focus point and as it was very dark I decided to go with the edge of the wall to be in line with my eyes. Did work out alright.
Charles, it's one of those lenses that make you feel inadequate, because (despite the modest aperture) it is infallible.
Love that first shot by the way!
