Luka, what is the strange banding in the upper right of the last shot?
Noise banding. I've pushed the shot one stop and the blue channel about two stops and have not enabled any noise reduction. So that's about ISO 12800.

I have a question for all of you M9 users:
– How does the M9 work with long exposures? My M8 drains the battery very quickly when the post-exposure noise reduction kicks in, which you cannot turn off. At ~10°C I can't take more than like 5 images with 5-15 seconds exposure time before a newly charged battery just dies. I works flawlessly for short exposures, so I suspect it's the NR that consumes A LOT of power after the actual image is taken.
You can't turn off the long exposure noise reduction on the M9, but I have not noticed any significant loss of battery. According to my lightroom database, the first time I went out shooting with the M9 & tripod at night, I took 75 shots. And that must have been on one battery charge because this was the day after I got the M9 and before my spare batteries had arrived.
Thank Henrik and Luka Currumbin beach and alley along the coast is amazing. Sometimes there are too many people, at least to what I am use of, so I resign myself to people shots instead. I still think there is a place for both the 24 Lux and 28 Cron, as they paint very differently. I have noticed this in particular when PP'ing the files and find that I need very different settings for each.
Seekuh, yes the filter holder is somewhat of an issue, particularly if you want to use ND and polarizing filters. As Bijltje suggested maybe Lee system would suit well. So far I have needed nothing other than the B+W UV series VII. The ND series VII would be handy, as personally I don't like to change filters while I'm out shooting. Combining the two filters, would require a filter system, as two filters stacked may cause some vignetting.
Martin, the M9 although less battery life than a typical DSLR, I have taken 150 to 200 shots with longer night time exposures during a shooting session, without any issues.
@Luka - great shots with the Sonnar 50 1.5, as well as the "grey" Sweden. Here I am waiting to sell my Sonnar, and you go posting pics that make me think twice about selling it.
@Charles - beautiful capture!... Since you shoot a lot by the water, do you always use UV filters to protect the front lens element from spray? Are you satisfied with the B+W's?
@3d.Doug - nice photos. I like the first one best.
Thanks Ty I am more than happy with the B+W UV filters. I use them, as I cannot afford to scratch or accidentally damage the front element, while travelling. I know there is a difference to not using filters, but I am not willing to risk damage.
Doug, nice shots!

That sounds promising! I wonder if it's the old batteries for the M8 that just can't deliver high current over long time that's the real problem, because they don't really seem to drain. Just die for the moment. And if that happens during noise reduction, the image is lost.
I'd really want a modern EVF camera, but the more I wait, the clearer it gets that no one is going to produce one that meets my demands. So why just not get the nicest camera instead?
If I can take handheld pictures like this at 1/15 with the M8 at f/2, it would be a breeze with the M9 at f/1.4 I suppose...
I find it a bit surprising that I can pull out so much color even at ISO 1250 and 640. The Summicron sure helps though.
I just got back from a trip to Spain. Yes, there are photos of old buildings as well, but I'm going to spare you from them. My first trip with the Leica (M8.2 and 35 cron asph).
I like the shots Shuko, the first woman shot has nice character, or aura about her.
Makten, similarly lit shots, nice tones. The Not sign, what is that, no smoking?
Sitting here waiting on Fed Ex. There was no other way to get it if it had to be signed for via Fed Ex. I will have to ship to work next time I guess...
Does anybody have experience using the 90mm Tele-Elmarit? I have an Elmarit-M which is a beautiful lens (and a fine performer) but it's a focal length I use rarely and it handles "okay" on my Ikon and "terribly" on my NEX. I could probably net $1000 by ditching it for a thin Tele, but wouldn't mind some input if there's any experienced users here. The Elmarit-M was difficult to find in EX+++ condition, so I am hesitant to sell it (not the least of which is the fact it was not in production for long and there are few even out there).
Corposet, I have a older 90 Cron, a great value in a tele at that time. I don't think I paid over 1400-1500 for mine, but then I can't recall for sure.
nice set Paul, once you got warmed up posting, lol.
Charles, well, you are advanced, running scripts. I just do mine the old fashioned way. Close my eyes and press a button.
First day with 24mm 1.4 lux! Thanks Samy!
I had a lot going on this afternoon, spending some 20% off coupons @ places. Everyone is looking for business it seems.
M9/24mm lux f 5.7
M9/24mm lux 400 iso, not sure why exif says f1! Seems strange, I thought it was f 1.4
had a little fun with processing in Silver Efex II @ 5.7 again.
I borrowed a friends Canon 50D and 70-200L IS as well, and I should have just used the M9 for everything, it absolutely blows the Canon out of the park even at base ISO and comparable apertures.
I guess I was using a Prime (30 year old Nikkor 105/2.5) but the 70-200L just looks like mush. The AF on the 50D missed more shots than I did manual focusing my Nikkor. Base ISO is also super noisy on the 50D (worse than the M9 at ISO400 or so).
The 50D did come through in one area - framerate. And unfortunately that was a feature I did need for this shoot.
At the risk of sounding arrogant, life is too short for @#% glass.

Thrice, I'm assuming you did a focus trap? How did you estimate the distance? because that second image is very, but very good.
