Charles, nice shots with the Nokton 50/1.1. I like #3 very much, great composition, love the framing and how you lead us to the picture frames. Well done!
Had a long week, got back home from the airport yesterday evening and found a box at the door. Haven't had the chance to go out and shoot but my CV Nokton 50/1.5 finally started to behave like a 50mm
Thanks Charles. The colors and files from the M9 dng files are definitely more vibrant than the M8, and now I don't miss my D700 for the kind of high ISO shots I do. I'm still getting used to the metering. The M9 meters a much wider area compared to the M8 and I'm constantly underexposing when the background is bright.
Excellent one with the Planar! I like both versions. For a moment, I thought I was in the Zeiss thread The subject looks like its floating in front.
I almost fell into the trap myself today and was very close to buying one but then I came to my senses and reminded myself that I shoot landscapes, depend on live view a lot and if anything I should go in the other direction and get a digital medium format camera. (Un)fortunately they as well don't quite meet my requirements yet (again no live view).
My name is Luka and I'm a photo gear addict.
Anway, I have not used the X1 a lot, just one photo here and there when I did not have my DSLR and felt withdrawal symptoms.

Ok, so I was really getting desperate when using the X1 for that last shot. Close ups are not exactly it's forte.
Here are a couple of older shots from Frankfurt airport:
Thanks Luka Excellent shots. I have been enjoying your work with the Rokkor. It is interesting progression, once you get through that Canon L lenses are very good, then Zeiss rendering is outstanding, but now I personally enjoy, the different styles of rendering that are available, almost like different paint brushes for the ultimate effect you want to create. Just another excuse, for becoming a photo addict
Thanks Luka. Very nice shots with the X1 as always. I like the Frankfurt pic #1 very much .. all the elements fall into place very nicely in this one. You should definitely check out the M9 (or S2 ) .. use it for a few days with some nice Leica or Zeiss glass and you just might just enjoy it enough to keep your DSLR in the closet. True, no live view but compensated with a super sharp and detailed CCD sensor
Thanks Charles. Yes, there is definitely a progression where you through the gear converge on the type of photography you like to do. I suspect my destiny is digital medium format once the technology will be adequate. I'm basically unable to use my Canon glass these days as I get disappointed when just looking at the photos on the LCD screen of the camera. I know it can be improved a lot in post, but it basically kills off my enthusiasm for taking pictures.
And yes, there is definitely specialization where you pick certain tools for very specific situations. The only problem is that these 'paint brushes' weigh a lot and it's a hassle changing them.
These days I usually pick four or five lenses when I go out and shoot and I try to vary them. Some are difficult to leave at home though - such as the Zeiss 21/2.8, 35/1.4, 100 MP and now also the Rokkor.
The S2 is a possible choice perhaps, but I don't think so. I like the M9 very much in theory but I'm afraid that in practice it's not at all suitable for me. I like to shoot from a tripod and do the focusing and framing using live view. Street photography is not at all my cup of tea.
Luka, give the M9 a try. Can't remember the names but I believe there are already some pros switching from a D3x to the M9 for landscape/architecture work. You can add one of these to feed the gear addiction http://reallyrightstuff.com/rrs/Customkititems.asp?kc=BM9-L-Set&eq=

Hehe, not a chance.

Luka you are destined for digital MF If there was anyone that would benefit from MF, it would be you, as you demonstrated your talent and ability with any of the equipment that has been thrown at you.
Thanks Charles. Too bad that there is no MF with live view, but that does not keep me from drooling when I see an image shot with a Hasselblad 4D-60
Great portraits with the 90 Summicron! I prefer the color versions.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but a couple of street photos shot today with the X1. It's quite decent when the light is good and when you use zone focusing.
Charles: My turn to compliment on your photos! Absolutely love the portraits, makes me want to pick up the 90 cron...though, I am not clued up on which version is best...
Luka is showing masterclass whatever gear he is using...
Joe - Congrats on the M9...I wish. I would love to have that camera. Glad to hear you don't miss the D700....yet
Luka - the digital Zeiss Ikon will have live view If they came out with one I am sure it would be half the M9 and if it was full frame I would buy it, no question.
Thank you Luka Great street shots, particularly #1 and 3, great composition and exposure.
Dmitri, Thank you!!!
Ryan, thank you It would be great if Zeiss Ikon came out with a FF digital version, with interchangeable lenses, but I think Fuji with the X100 potentially with the X200?, may be beat everyone. In an interview the Fuji people, suggested the X100 is testing the waters so maybe the X200.
