Ahhh, yes it does. Thanks for the comparison pics. I did go up to CameraQuest.com to look at the pic of the new versus old, but somehow missed that the old has the black filter ring. Still, would a "II" somewhere have been too expensive to add...?

some my first shots with the leica m8. waiting for a zeiss 25mm f2.8 to come in and hopefully a CV 35mm f1.2 soon!
Your 25 will be there Wednesday
Good photos, but he colors look a bit dull, to me. How did you process the shots, and what lens were you using? I find CaptureOne and Lightroom work best with the M8, for some reason. Also, on the M8 make sure you use a UV-IR filter to compensate for the IR defect on the sensor.
I just went through the motions of placing an order on their site. Shipping to Canada is $50 AUD.
I'm also looking into options with one of the Asian dealers, though it looks like the total savings will be only about $100 once shipping is factored in.
Ryan, Joe and Ajay, thanks guys
Joe, very nice evening mood shot
Ajay, nice shots! Love #1. Congrats on the new Leica R APO 280
Dierk, really nice portraits. I really love your lighting techniques.
Brody, welcome, nice shots.
Corposant, nice film shot!
Ron and Ryan, no more temptations of the CV 35/1.2 II This lens looks great so far.
So all this talk about the CV 35/1.2 II. Is it THAT much better over V1? How close is it to it's Leica equivalent in overall quality?
While we're on the subject of 35's....check out what this 35mm pre-asph v4 cron fetched on Ebay yesterday. I have the exact same lens, but in black. Is it the fact that the silver is more rare? Or is it the fact that it's made in Germany, whereas most of the pre-asph cron 35's IV were made in Canada? find it hard to believe someone would pay a $2k premium over the going rate, just to get a silver instead of black:
najibs - it's Leica and isn't meant to make sense, unless you're a collector and care about that sort of thing.
I have no idea how the new CV stacks up against the previous version or the Leica 35 Lux versions. All I know from having seen Ryan's samples and those from Jeff Hapeman on Flickr is that it looks very good for what it is and what it costs. With this lens I don't really care so much about degrees of contrast or bokeh vs. other lenses. I just want a fast, decently sharp and reasonably priced 35mm.
corposant - great color and tonality.
Brody - I really like the smoothness of the first image.
Dierk - very touching portrait and wonderful richness of tones, as always.
Ajay - looking good! and the 280 f/4 is certainly impressive!
Nice one Joe!
Charles - very fun portrait!
Ryan - don't hold back on the CV 35 f/1.2 II images!
Great shots everyone!
Been looking to get a back-up 35mm since my 35 lux is in a leica service centre for repairs (sudden severe back focussing developed overnight).
Here's apic of the new 35 nokton f1.2 v2 for sizing considerations (apologies for the low resolution shot)
It's indeed sharp, not quite sure it's sharper than the 35 lux asph v1 which i have, but certainly sharp. Just rather large. It retails for 1600 SGD.
Ryan, congrats on the new 35 but still some great photos with the 35 Lux. I am looking forward to more photos from the Voigtlander.
Charles, very nice b&w.
Ajay, I like the b&w Audi photo.
Dierk, nice portraits again.
Brody, I like the Laura photo but you could have given her a nicer background
Ron, very good set. My favorite is #3 and I also like #6
Dan, nice subtle colors in that photo but the bokeh is little busy.
Kl, did you get one or was it just window shopping I'm not sure I've commented on it before but I have enjoyed your interview series a lot. Great work and I'm looking forward to the next one!
In a few weeks I am most likely going to Hong Kong for some work and I have of course contemplated the idea of doing some lens shopping I'm mostly interested in Voigtländer M-lenses since I assume it might be easier to find some good deals for them in Hong Kong. Does anyone here have any knowledge about camera shops in Hong Kong, both new and second hand is of interest and of course I'm mostly looking for M stuff. After some googling I have found one that looks good, http://www.tincheungcamera.com.hk/, but any hands-on knowledge would be good.
If someone is curios the lenses on my "maybe list" are the Vogtlander 28/1.9, 75/2.5 and of course the new 35/1.2.
as there seems to be a lot of interest in this lens,
here are some more shots from it and here is a collection
coded as Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH.

This is a lens I've been quite interested in. I'm so torn between it's size and the f1.2. How do you find it does as far as the amount of viewfinder blockage? people make it out to be a nightmare. Is there a optical difference between the original version of this lens and the lens differentiated by the "II"? If anyone knows, I've been trying to figure it out... I read somewhere it has to do with focusing to infinity.

Joakim, I appreciate the comment, but really? Busy? Maybe it's not 50mm summilux asph smooth, but it's certainly smoother at medium distances than the 90mm summicron with which it shares the same DOF. Where is the bokeh busy in the previous shot I posted? Here is one closer to MFD
Thanks to a heads up from Ron I'm meeting with the Cosina dealer in Taiwan. He has 13 copies of the 35/1.2II in stock right now. I couldn't try the lens last night because new means new here. No one can touch a lens and sell it as new so I have to try the owner's copy.

Dierk, nice images! Love the farmyard/barn set.
Just to be clear for everyone here, your Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 Aspherical images are with the first version? It would appear to be so in the pbase set since they're all taken a while ago.
Brody: I have not used either versions of this lens, but based on comments by various users, size is the primary drawback of this lens. I think here you have to settle for this compromise if you don't want to spend $5000+ for a 35 Lux ASPH. The difference between the two is that the newer one is slightly smaller but appears to have somewhat 'better' optical performance - better contrast as well, which was another negative opinion of the original version.
joakim - I really like the first two images. It looks like a site with some good potential for abstract images.
